I hesitate even to pen this… for some secrets are too sacred to be shared with the masses. And yet, to remain silent would be a disservice to those who crave true flavor—authentic, soulful, unapologetically bold.

The Two Lokos is not a place you stumble upon; it is found. Tucked deep within a supermercado off Howdershell Road, you must first enter through the unassuming front, veer right past produce and pan dulce, and follow your nose—and your instinct—past the cowboy boots and wide-brimmed hats. There, in the far reaches of the back, music pulses softly like a beacon. You’ve arrived.

The restaurant is small—five tables, humble bar seating along the wall, and a few slot machines blinking quietly in the rear. The space hums with familial energy. Everyone knew someone. We didn’t know anyone. The only gringos in the place—and yet, we were met with warm nods, gentle smiles, and the kind of hospitality that feels like home.

Now, the Quesabirria Tacos.

I’ve tasted many. None like this.

The shell was textural perfection—crisped at the edges to a golden crackle, yet tender and chewy within, like it had memorized the cheese it held and decided to become one with it. And inside? Melted cheese, tender braised beef so rich it nearly whispered stories of where it had come from.

But the consomƩ. My God, the consomƩ.

It wasn’t just a dipping sauce. It was a revelation. A deep, fragrant brew of roasted chiles, savory fat, and meat so shredded it floated like silk in every crimson swirl. Chunks of meat nestled in the bottom like sunken treasure, waiting for your final scoop to rescue them. It was intense, unforgettable—sacred.

This place… it isn’t for show. It’s not curated for Instagram. It doesn’t ask for attention.

But if you find it—if you earn your way to the back and sit at one of those five tables—you’ll taste something that feels abuelita-blessed and undeniably real.

I want to gatekeep this place. I want it to stay exactly the way it is. But some beauty is too rich not to share.

Five stars. Tell...

Here's a glowing review for a restaurant:

5/5 Stars - A Culinary Masterpiece!

I had the absolute pleasure of dining at The Two Lokos Today and I must say, it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for a fantastic Day.

The service was top-notch - our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. But the real star of the show was the food. Oh, the glorious food!

Every dish we ordered was expertly prepared, presented, and bursting with flavor. The Birria Tacos was a game-changer - tender, juicy, and with just the right amount of seasoning. . heavenly!

What impressed me most, however, was the attention to detail and the clear passion that goes into every aspect of this restaurant. it's clear that the team at the Two Lokos is dedicated to providing an exceptional service.

In short, if you haven't already, do yourself a favor and book a table at The Two Lokos. Your taste buds will thank you!

Highly Recommended: Birria Tacos and Burrito , and the exceptional service.

Will I Return?: Absolutely, and with...

I ordered 4 tacos, and rice and beans. An older lady took my order. Not long after, she came out with my food. But it was the wrong order, it was 2 burritos. I told her, she said oh sorry, then I waited a few more minutes. She came out with the 4 tacos. I asked her about the rice and beans, she said sorry, and went to the back to get them.

I saw her putting the food together. The lid to the beans fell on the floor. She picked the lid up off the floor and PUT IT ON the beans! I told her that she couldn’t serve those beans because the lid fell on the floor, and that I didn’t want them. She didn’t speak much English so she probably didn’t understand me. I tried to tell her in broken Spanish, and also I told the cashier in front that she needed to throw that container in the garbage. I hope the owner reads this review and educates the staff about food sanitation.

2 stars because the tacos and rice were very good, but I will not be...

It’s been a minute but I’m back with another review.. I heard about this place so I decided to check it out. A quaint store packed with so much goodness. All of your authentic ingredients! I headed to the back where they cook the food, ordered one steak quesabirria which was $4 just to try it out. Came with dipping sauce and salsa verde. Babe that salsa verde alone was fresh and fire! So boom, one bite and I was like OMG. Seasoned, cheesy, that squeeze of lime over the topšŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø Aw Lawd! Hate I only bought one but I will definitely be back! Oh and I bought some seasonings..

This review is purely for products purchased at this location. We went in yesterday to purchase a tamale pot, maseca, and canned jalapeƱos. We purchase one bag of maseca corn tamale mix and opened it today to begin our tamales masa. It was filled with moth webs and dead moths. I looked for the date and found it was scratched out with a sharpie. I will not be returning to this location for any produce or groceries, which is a shame because I loved that this store was so close.
