Luxury pricing for cheap service: The Property Manager is an unprofessional gossip hound. She has shared personal details with other tenants and construction workers on more than one occasion. Escalating the issue to regional management is absolutely useless because they are personal friends outside of work. Take it a step further? Sure, copy the owner of the development Kaplan Properties. No one responds to your emails or concerns. The next day the Property Manager you were complaining about goes around to other tenants and tells them the owner laughs at your emails! How unprofessional is that?!?!
Not all tenants are treated the same: If you dare complain about the Property Manager to one her friends you will receive a Cease and Desist. The very same situation can happen between two tenants and another Kaplan employee but no Cease and Desist letters to be sent. Why? Only when HER feelings are hurt will an action be taken and it will be legal action. I can't wait to see the retaliation from this review, I'm sure there will be something! It will be in a legal or financial form of course.....
Complain about smoking? Again, not all tenants are treated the same. The Property Manager will tell one tenant she can't do anything about the smoking and another tenant that they have to purchase a specific filter for their home due to complaints. The only consistency is that there is no consistency! You get whatever mood she's in. To help her I sent her information explaining my rights to fresh air trump any smokers right to smoking......what happened? Nothing! She ignored the email and didn't respond. How dare I ask her to do her JOB?
In the summer a couple of construction workers inappropriately whistled at my daughter and two nieces while walking to the pool. It was extremely uncomfortable. I complained to the Property Manager, her response was that she will mention it in their weekly meeting. Follow up? None. I sent her a follow up request to which she copied and pasted her original answer and said she brought it up at the meeting. What action was taken against those workers? The company they represented while onsite? Nothing. They were back the next day whistling at another tenants child. Kaplan doesn't care.
The biggest problem I have with this location is the Property Manager. Things can be fixed, her management style cannot. Kaplan Properties has no regards for their customers because they let this woman do whatever she wants and no one has stepped in to coach or train her.

Read moreI am more than a little confused by all of the negative ratings that the Lofts at Helmetta has received. I moved in on Feb. 1st, 2019 and cannot say enough positive, wonderful things about my experience here thus far. The building (lobby, hallways, common areas etc.) and grounds are kept impeccably. The leasing staff, property manager and live in maintenance staff have all been so friendly, helpful, kind and welcoming. They have all gone above and beyond to answer my questions and have been extremely patient with me as sometimes I can be unintentionally "difficult." The residents of the building have all been extremely welcoming as well. Daily, I am met with smiling faces and friendly hellos in passing by. Elevator rides are always filled with friendly small talk. The hallways are quiet, I have often wondered If I am the only one that lives on my floor lol As far as noise, this is an apartment, yes sometimes you can hear noise from surrounding units and your neighbors. It has never once been anything even remotely close to complaint worthy. I was concerned as many residents have dogs, I myself have an elderly senior dog who no longer enjoys the advancements of wagging tails from playful pups... everyone is so respectful with their dogs and of my dog. Read moreLooks nice however, everything in the apartment is made super cheap.. also the property manager was always difficult to work with.. when we were trying to move in they “lost our paperwork” more than one time. And when we handed our paper work a few days later a woman called that we were in “jeopardy of not getting the apartment.” Poorly mismanaged and after we moved out they held our security deposit for two and a half months, they physically sent the check but put a hold until the money can be transferred. And when we moved in we paid for the amenities and they continued to charge us for them although we weren’t allowed to use them during covid.
