Corkscrew Curiosities — Local services in Henderson

I was recommended to come here by an employee of the AT&T in Madisonville, KY. She had this cool pen and when I asked where she got it she told me it was from Corkscrew Curiosities and that I should check the shop out sometime.

My wife and I ended up going to Owensboro for a date day. The day was going so well we thought we would end it with visiting this shop that we have heard so highly of so on our way back through Henderson we decided to stop in and check out the shop. I have been hyping this place up to my wife for weeks so I was excited to check it out.

We didn’t see any of those pens which was fine because I figured they rotate product in and out quite often since the shop is so popular. While we were there we looked around and I saw a few books that were interesting but the stuff was mostly nothing my wife and I are remotely into. Most of what they had that day was related to mushrooms, crystals and witchcraft. We looked around the store just hoping we would find something to buy but found nothing.

We were excited to meet the owners as well because I’ve seen so much about them on Facebook. As soon as we entered we saw them. They looked at us and then started working again. They were unpacking stuff it seemed like. As we walked through it felt so awkward, not because we didn’t find anything we were interested in buying but because the vibe was just weird. It felt like we were walking through a graveyard it was so quiet and awkward in there.

We finished looking and walked out without hearing a single welcome or hi or bye or a single word from the owners. The experience was kind of a let down and I don’t know if they were having a bad day or what but it was the weirdest experience I have ever had going into a shop. It was sad because as I said I had been hyping this place up to my wife for weeks. Once we got in the car she said what I had been thinking the whole time which was that the vibe was weird and how much she didn’t like that experience. Before I walk in the door, I have to set a budget for myself, or I will spend my entire bank account here. This place is filled with the coolest oddities in over a hundred miles! Bones, crystals, vintage trinkets, unique jewlery, basically everything you could ever possibly want. Their prices are very affordable and the workers are friendly and helpful.
