Our first time at Brown Bag Burgers (or Tooties?) was a great experience. The place looks like a charming local place and it didn’t disappoint. It’s only open for breakfast and lunch. They close at 2 so hurry up and get there.
Inside was warm and friendly, the type of place that you know the locals probably keep a secret. We were greeted right away after we seated ourselves.
Went in on a Monday around noon. I ordered the chicken salad on a croissant with chips. My husband ordered a pork tenderloin with fries and my son ordered a cheeseburger with fries. Food was served up fast.
Our drinks were a mixed bag. I ordered a Diet Coke and it came in a can, which I’m fine with. A Pepsi and a Mt. Dew was also ordered. The Pepsi came as a fountain drink but the Mt. Dew came as a can as well. Large cups of ice were served with the cans. Did I mention the cans were only a dollar?!
Chicken croissant was surprisingly tasty. A little sweet and had a great texture, slightly chunky with either nuts or grapes in it. Not ground into oblivion. Tasted great. Chips were served with it.
Breaded tenderloin came dressed and was delicious according to my husband. He said it was better than Zestos’s and if you know about that place, that’s saying something.
Cheeseburger went down so fast on my son that I barely got a picture. He said it tasted homemade like mine and I guess that’s a good thing. He ate every crumb.
I noticed they also had a small salad bar, but I didn’t try it this time around.
I could tell they had regulars come in because the waiter and the customers chatted. Fast and friendly service. He checked on us a few times to make sure that everything was good and that we didn’t need anything.
We couldn’t pass the pies and cakes that are in the old fashioned glass cases. Mile high meringue. We ordered two pieces of chocolate pie. I just took a bite. Very chocolatey and a drier consistency than I prefer. It was almost brownie like. Very rich and would satisfy your chocolate craving.
The prices were kinda unbelievable in today’s world. We’ll definitely go back and I’m dying to try their pork BBQ and rib plate.
My tip is to take your time and look at all the items in the menu and on the wall before you place your order. There’s so much! Oh well gives us an excuse to return.
The atmosphere was great. All walks of life eating in there together. What might be seen from the outside as a local dive (which usually is the best food) turned out to be a great and fun experience. We went in early March 2025....
Read moreOur family LOVES Brown Bag! We eat there at least twice a week. Sometimes 3 or more times a week lol. It’s my favorite spot to grab breakfast on my way to work. My husband and I raise our 5 year old grandbaby. Any given day of the week, if you ask him where he wants to go, he’ll say Brown Bag. This morning was no different, he requested it for breakfast. When we got there he decided he wanted a pancake. He loves the french toast too. Anyways, he was blown away when Robin, his favorite waitress, laid his food in front of him. Emily, one of the creative chefs in the back, took it upon herself to concoct a wonderful surprise for him. She made him a dinosaur pancake! He was so happy he tried to hug the plate. While we were there we also picked up some beautiful pies they made us for our Thanksgiving celebration tomorrow. I can;t wait to try them. I’m sure they’ll be amazing! We got a pumpkin, a pecan, a chocolate, and Ms.Connie even let us order a special sugar free coconut cream pie for my father who is diabetic and visiting from Oklahoma for the holiday. They are the absolute sweetest family and business. They will forever have my family’s business. We are blessed to have them serving our community the yummy food they do. Also, here’s a pro tip, the chili is fire 🔥! It has huge chunks or meat, it’s the perfect amount of spice and the perfect texture. In short, WE...
Read moreWorst food I've ever had. Greasy over cooked. The slaw and Dr. Pepper was the only thing good. The oil in the deep fryer was so old that it burnt everything. The chicken was so greasy could not even eat it. I've had better chicken from tv dinners. The only A/C they have are window units it was 80 inside. If this place gets any good reviews they are coming from friends or family. Your better off getting your fried chicken from Sureway. We told the waitress she said she would tell them. Spent 22.00 plus 3.00 tip. She knew that we were not satisfied. Never let a customer leave unhappy or you will never have a chance to make happy. Comp the meal or at least discount it to hopefully get them back. We'll never go back again! Bad food bad service = out...
