My wife and I had our wedding reception at this venue and we were disappointed with the overall product. While we understand that some things are out of anyone’s control, there were things that we felt disappointed in. This review is for the reception itself.
First and foremost, we were disappointed in the venue coordinator, Cynthia. My wife had several communication problems with Cynthia leading up to our wedding regarding what my wife wanted vs what the venue could offer. This led my wife to hire an outside planner, who also had her own difficulties communicating with her. Although we were disappointed in the effort and communication given to us before our wedding, we were hoping this wouldn’t be a sign of what was to come, but we were wrong.
Our reception was moved inside due to rain, and our assistant photographer had a medical emergency, which needed EMS to attend to her in their kitchen. These are events that we understand are out of anyone’s control.
What bothered me in particular was when we were all seated, Cynthia kept coming up to my wife and I, and kept asking us to tell our guests that dinner would be delayed about 15 minutes. We understand that there was an emergency and we made sure that our guests were aware of it. However, when the emergency was cleared, we kept getting told to tell our guests that dinner would be delayed for another 15 minutes due to other reasons. This kept happening for at least 1 hour. This was very unprofessional and made us feel embarrassed.
In addition, no desserts were served to our guests, as part of what we agreed to.
Outside of Cynthia, the venue should seriously consider hiring a new DJ. The DJ was very rude leading up to our wedding. I filled out his form for the reception and requested what we wanted. I tried to be patient, understanding, and work with him. All the guy did was question my music taste, question why we had several guests wanting to speak, and try to impose what he wanted. He played about 10% of what we requested and played some mixes that left people wanting to leave the dance floor.
I also received complaints from some of our guests that the bartender was making disrespectful remarks to them for simple requests.
Days after the event, we brought all of these concerns and everything else to the general manager of the facility. We were told that he would get back to us regarding our concerns. We even had our planner present for that call to express her concerns about that night. It’s December and we have not heard back from him. It’s disappointing that it takes us writing a review for us to get a response back, but it is what it is.
We’re not asking for any compensation, rather we want to warn any couples thinking of getting married here that you might want to look elsewhere.
I want to finish this review by saying thank you to Cynthia’s assistant, who communicated and made the effort to help us on our day. Her, the people serving the food, and the people who responded to the emergency were the only ones that looked like they cared about our wedding...
Read moreOh boy, where do I start with Wildhorse Golf Course? Well, first off, let me just say that my clubs have seen some courses in their day, but they unanimously voted this as one of their all time favorite tracks (yes, my golf clubs are sentient...don't ask).
Wildhorse Golf Course is the Las Vegas of golf courses...minus the casinos, late-night partying, and regretful wedding chapels. What it does have, however, is sheer, unadulterated golfing joy. Think Disneyland for golfers, only instead of Mickey Mouse you get manicured fairways and instead of Cinderella's castle you get... well, more manicured fairways.
The greens are so smooth I was half tempted to pull out a yoga mat and strike a pose. The bunkers are surprisingly welcoming too, almost like they're saying, "Come on in, the sand is just fine!". And the fairways, oh, those fairways. They're so nice I felt guilty for divoting them, like I was scarring a piece of beautiful artwork. But don't worry, I was promptly assured that they heal faster than Wolverine.
Let's not forget about the stunning views. Honestly, I felt like I was playing golf in a postcard. I half expected a giant hand to come out of the sky and move me around like a chess piece.
The staff deserves a standing ovation as well. They were so attentive I started to suspect they were trained at Hogwarts. They anticipated my needs before I even knew them myself. "Hungry" BAM! Here's a pork missile aka a hot dog at the turn. "thirsty?" WHOOSH! Let's grab a beer and maybe take a few with us for the back 9.
In short, Wildhorse Golf Course is the golfing equivalent of finding a golden ticket in your Willy Wonka chocolate bar. If you're a golf aficionado or even someone who just fancies a good walk spoiled, do yourself a favor and check it out. I promise you, the only regret you'll have is not finding this gem sooner.
Just remember, what happens at Wildhorse, stays at Wildhorse... unless you get a hole-in-one. Then that's definitely going...
Read moreSo over how this course promotes disc golf, but treats the general public players hoping to attend the course with no respect. If it’s not LVC weekend expect to be treated like a child!
DO NOT plan on attending the course in advance (more than 3 days before you want to attend), good chance they will have something going on, or the course times are so short in the afternoon between a set tee time “3:30pm” and sunset “6:30pm” that you wont make it through the entire round…… this is a course you shouldn’t feel rushed on either…simply put this course is a slice of disc golf heaven…but they give you about 3 hours of time between the afternoon, and sunset to complete 18-24 holes…
I have played this course at least 6-8 times in 2 years with no gripe besides the bad attitude of the old man at the counter in the shop, and the guy with the south jersey attitude that sets you up with your cart…This time I planned to travel with my bachelor party for a Friday afternoon round from Florida…We have had this trip booked (flights/hotel) for months…and for the past couple months I have regularly called to confirm nothing was going on that weekend, as usual I was turned away from pre-booking a tee time, but told to call back 3/4 days prior to us getting to town…. Now 3 days ahead of time, and the trip fully booked I call the shop to find out the course is hosting an event, and wont allow us to play the 1 day we are in town for my bachelor party… The front desk told me today that this event was booked for months, but for months the same old man at the counter with the bad attitude towards disc golfers had been telling me nothing was booked, and we had nothing to worry about for the weekend we planned… almost felt like he was rushing me off the phone every time I called…. there suggestion was to go down the road to a free course in the homeless area of the city….. so much for a disc golf bachelor party at the little slice of heaven that is “Wildhorse”…I...
