This coin / jewelry shop has recently changed management. Knowing the prior management was a company I wouldn't do business with due to low prices paid to sellers, and high prices expected from buyers. So, I thought I would go by and see if the new management was any different. Sadly, nothing has changed. Selling / buying gold and silver is something most people don't do on a regular basis, and may not be aware of "spot prices" that control the market price of metals world wide. So, we want to deal with someone that will treat you fairly. What is fairly? This is what Google AI says, A "fair commission" when selling silver to a dealer is better understood as the percentage of the silver's spot price you receive. For bullion, you can expect a range of 85% to 97% of the spot price, depending on factors like the weight, type of silver, and condition. Premiums are higher for smaller amounts or less common silver items, while larger transactions or generic bars typically yield a higher percentage of the spot price. And on gold, To ensure a fair deal when selling gold to a dealer, understand that they typically offer 60% to 90% of the gold's melt value, depending on the item and market conditions. A fair price is a percentage below the current "spot price" to account for the dealer's costs and profit. For bullion, a fair offer is typically closer to 90ā95% of the spot price, whereas jewelry may receive a lower percentage. The purity is measured in karats (kt). You can calculate the percentage of pure gold in your item by dividing its karat by 24. 24kt: 100% pure gold 18kt: 75% pure gold (18/24) 14kt: 58.3% pure gold (14/24) .10kt: 41.7% pure gold (10/24) I'm posting this to inform the public, that the gold and silver market is at all time highs, which means a lot of people will be selling / buying precious metals. From my experience with "Gold & Silver Assay & Jewelry Company" they do not operate within the above guidelines. However, other companies in Statesville, Granite Falls and Hickory do. So, always get 3 quotes before you sell or buy your jewelry, bullion, coins, silverware or any other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEver since the female took overāthis has become the worst gold and silver mining shop imaginable. For over 2 years now, every time I call (I call about every 6 months) she is massively under spot. She quoted me $35 for silver eagles when the price is $48 spot. Who in their right mind is selling their silver to her? More than $10 under spot? Are you kidding? If thatās you, you are getting scammed. And it doesnāt matter what silver and gold are doingāshe is constantly underpaying. Then, she is overly charging. She is more expensive than everyone around. Only the ignorant do business with her. I asked her, who, in their right mind is selling their silver to her with those prices. She laughed and said lots of people. She then made a comment about going to the refinery. Iām sorry, but I donāt know a silver dealer that takes 1 ounce silver coins to the refinery. No, you do what all Silver dealers do, you turn right around and sell those 1 ounce coins to the public and make a massive killing. Especially if youāre underpaying by that much. Refineries typically will pay you 98% value on silver bullion, and silver coins. What dealer would take their metal to a refinery, when you can turn around and mark up the premium by 10 or $15 like sheās doing? Elemetal (refinery in Charolette) would look at you cross eyed if you were taking 98% instead of a $15 mark up! Whatever you doādo not go here. Even during this upcoming bull run, even if she decides to change her pricing to become more competitive; she has truly shown her true colors. She has proven that sheās willing to take advantage of the ignorant! Whatever you do, donāt go to her....
