Placed down payment on a sectional 8 weeks ago. Was told that they had to inform us per protocol that it would take 4 to 6 weeks but the company we were were ordering from typically only took 2 weeks. We gave away our old furniture given we were performing a remodel at the time. At week 6 after purchase, we called in for an update given we had received no calls, emails, nothing up to this point. Was told that the manufacturer had a delay in fabric and they would call us every Tuesday giving us updates on ETA. The next week, on Tuesday, I reach out to them and I am told that due to president Trump's tarriffs, they are waiting on the chaise and console which is part of this manufacturer's quick order program although this is an American manufacturer and the tarriffs were actually not in place yet, I say nothing and ignorantly portray myself in agreement. My wife being upset drives up to the store that evening and she is offered a very cheap sectional off the floor. She denied and we choose to wait.Today, we call again after receiving no call from the store yesterday, Tuesday, as promised. We are once again told that the tarriffs put in place by " Trump" have caused a delay in American made furniture. This is week 8 and they have half the money we paid down ($1,870.00) held hostage given they have paperwork you have to sign agreeing you can't receive a refund but have to use that as an in store credit towards something else. They also offered us a sectional that was on the floor and has been for sometime stating it was a more expensive piece and they would give it to us at the same price. A floor model that every Dick and Harry have sat on and got who knows what on it. Thanks but no thanks. Then they act offended that I deny their offer for used furniture stating they are just trying to help. I then ask for a order number so I can contact the manufacturer of furniture myself and receive no response. Not a good experience at all. A) Don't advertise and emphasize your furniture as American made and then blame tarriffs caused by a president I support for imports not being allowed in the country in a timely manner when we are discussing a supposed and emphasized American piece. B) It is an insult to offer used furniture to someone who purchased custom built new furniture. There is no telling who has came in that store and sat on that furniture and the filth that may be on it. C) If you tell a customer you will follow up on a certain day, do so. D) If you cannot provide a piece of furniture in the time frame you have set forth then give the customer an option to have their money back. E) I should have paid closer attention to reviews of this place prior to making an order. F) I still have no furniture since I gave my old set away.
*Update 6.20.19- So after reaching out to the manufacturer. I have discovered that this sectional is no longer available and we were sold furniture that essentially could not be produced. I would like to update that I did receive a text this week from in your home stating this peice would not be in for some time and to please stop by and pick something else. Thanks for the update. Pretty upset that we were sold furniture that cannot be made and then forced to use that money to buy/settle for something from a company who has gotten us into this predicament. Getting ready to head up there now to see how they handle the situation. Will update after visit...still without furniture...ughhhhh.
7.9.19-sorry for the delay but much has happened since last visit. To avoid all the long horrible details, they agreed to refund our money in full since they couldn't satisfy our needs. They stated it would take 2 weeks to process the refund. That was 3 weeks ago. Today, they tried to short us on our refund by $187.00 but only after my wife spent Friday and Monday on the phone with them all day. They wanted her to sign and agree legal literature stating we were okay with them shorting out refund by 187 bucks. Still no refund. Beware, beware, beware! I have never heard so many lies. Awful awful...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would! Buying from here was the single worst buying experience I have ever had. When you go in they have a nice front put on but as soon as they get your money they could care less what happens. I spent literally thousands of dollars on furniture here and the salesman told me we would probably be getting it in 2 weeks because it was coming from California, that was fine as we were in the moving process of our new house. Also during the initial contract I signed a price for our dining room table and chair, the salesman with us wrote the incorrect price and had to come back to use and tell us he couldn't give us the set because he wrote too low of a price...mind you the contract had already been signed and we had agreed on that price, the actual price we had to pay to get the set WE ALREADY AGREED ON was an additional $200, but since my wife loved the table I said ok lets just get it. After a month had passed I started to get really annoyed as they were not returning phone calls because I wanted a status on my order. and then another month...and ANOTHER month and still nothing. At this point I had enough and FINALLY got someone to return my call, it happened to be the lady in charge. Not only was she unbelievably rude but she thought that talking condescending to me was going to be fine. Once I came back at her with the same exact attitude she approached me with she didn't like it to much and got even more rude. At one point in the conversation I asked her how exactly she planned to keep getting people in the door as her customer service was terrible and the business they conducted was totally unprofessional she responded "I don't need your referral, Jesus will lead people to here because I'm a good Christian women". Once I realized that there was no getting around the unprofessionalism, our conversation ended. Many months later we finally got our furniture and within days of signing off on the delievery the paint on our dining room chairs started to orange peel very bad and has fallen off. When I emailed them about this they said they would reach out to the company that made the chair, the company responded back and said that the backs for those chairs were out of stock and no longer going to be made. Not only did in your home furnishing not offer to give any type of partial refund or attempt to make it right they said "you signed for it", as if I can predict orange peel happening and getting bad that fast. After that I stopped even trying because there is absolutely no point going back and forth with these people. I'm going to be reporting them to the BBB directly after this post. I honestly have no clue how a place like this continues to stay in business and never again will they get mine id rather spend a grand over their asking price than deal with in your home furnishings again, hopefully karma will catch up with them. Edit 9/19/2024, since the owner wants to attempt to scare me with a potential lawsuit since I was “never a customer” I have located the original receipt and have posted the picture in the photo section.:) you can now take that general statute you posted and shove it. 🤗 PS. I have also located the original emails with my complaint (13 emails long might I add) when I gave you guys the chance to make it right. I’d be glad to start posting those screen shots as well...
Read moreI have just had the most rude and unprofessional experience!! Went with my parents to look at furniture at In Your Home Furnishing in Hickory, NC on Memorial Day 2024. They found the furniture they liked and came back the next day to purchase. They were encouraged to open a Synchrony account to have delayed payment (until the furniture arrives). They put down a deposit that day. Within 2 days they were charged the full balance! What was supposed to be just 6-8 weeks is ridiculously longer. Now, my parents are 4 months without any furniture!!! They have been sitting on lawn chairs! On their paperwork, they hide behind the excuse that the manufacturer is slow because of Covid. Yes, they are using Covid as an excuse! They promise delivery times and don’t follow up. Brandy is the only representative at this store that has been somewhat professional. The “manager” Crystal is rude, patronizing, over talking, and unreasonable. I have been working with Brandy on my parents behalf and when my mother got so upset, I tried to intervene to diffuse the situation, Crystal said that she couldn’t talk to me unless they had a written form saying that I could speak with her. This is AFTER my mother gave her verbal consent. I have already told several members of my family and friends to NEVER buy from In Your Home Furnishings. And, now I advise you…don’t give yourself or your family the headache.
UPDATE: To the owner's response - Dear In Your Home Furnishings Representative. I did NOT state that I was the direct customer. My parents were and I noted in my review that I worked with representatives at your Hickory store on my parents' behalf. We (my parents and I) have worked to resolve the issue at hand. If my statements were false, unjustifiable, or could not be confirmed, why did a representative from IYHF ask that I, as a part of our resolve, follow-up with my post here and on your social media pages that a resolution was met and the refund was given? (To which I agreed to do once all refunds were given) We were told that the deposit MY PARENTS (your customers) paid and the total purchase amount charged to Synchrony would be refunded within 30 days (calendar and business days were not specified). It has been over 30 (calendar) days and the deposit refund has NOT been initiated. My statements were not false. I have text messages, voicemail messages, notes, and recordings to confirm my statement, dates, times, etc. If your attorney would like any copies of these items, I would be more than happy to give him/her the name, phone number, and address of our attorney.
As of 11.03.2024 - The owners or "corporate" have not issued a full refund of the deposit that my parents (their customers) had promised on 09.20.2024. They said that they would issue the refund within an "open 30 day window" and have not. They are not to be trusted. However, they will be hearing from our attorney.
UPDATE 01.27.2025: After several months, my parents were able to resolve the issue with In Your Home Furnishings. They were able to receive money they were charged and a month or two later, they received their...
