I recently discovered that inherited my dislike for shopping from my mother. Like her, when I walk into a clothing store, all I see are a bunch of patterns, colors and styles that are not me and would have no idea how to incorporate them into the clothes I already have. In planning my for run for State Senate, I realized that I no longer own a lot of “senatorial” attire. I struggled with an undiagnosed food allergy for many years and my weight continues to fluctuate. Because of that I donated all my suits and business attire and have refused to invest in clothing until I knew I would be able to wear it for more than a month or two.
