UPDATE 2017 I recently stopped by Taipei Supermarket again in February 2017 to buy some chill paste and other ingredients. They didnt have Oyster Sauce... which is common in the traditional chinese dish I wanted to make. The lady got irritated with me asking why they didnt have it too which didnt help things... She told me they were getting some more tomorrow. I was surprised they didnt have something I needed but got everything else. They used to be about 5 stars here... now they are about a 3. The lady here with the glasses I think her name is Amay, is not very friendly. She used to be. Not anymore though. She acted very irritated when I asked about the Oyster Sauce. I tried to ask her how she had been doing lately and she looked at me like I was crazy and said I dont chat to people. OK! really rudely. Then she said If you came to chat, go somewhere else. She used to be very friendly and tell me all kinds of things. Don't know if business is sour or whats gotten into her. Either way, service has taken a nose dive down. It was about some grocery item coming from Japan. it did not come from Japan the lady was very upset when we told her we knew it did not come from Japan, she claimed it came all the way from Japan. Watch out if she tells you something like this, and do the homework. Check up on her claim. Other wise, for my family this is the most convenient Asian grocery place in Roanoke. It can be a bit expensive, but I chalk this up to keeping the doors open.
