I visited Status on 1/1/2025 to see if they could adjust a watch stainless steel bracelet and then swap it out for a Nato strap. The staff eagerly told me that they could do that but insisted on payment in the form of cash first. That should have been my first clue. However, I was limited on options given the holiday and anxious to get my watch adjusted, so I accepted and paid.
The male employee immediately took my watch and walked out of the store to get on the elevator and go down to the first floor. I sensed that something was up, so I asked if they were outsourcing my watch job to someone else. The female employee reassured me that my watch was safe and in good hands and that I didn't need to follow him. I followed the man downstairs anyway.
This is how I found out that they took my watch down to the Prince Collections kiosk in the food court to have my watch adjusted. So basically Status saw an opportunity to act as middleman and collect a fee. Now I don't have a problem with that, but I had a huge issue with what happened next.
Prince Collections adjusted my stainless steel bracelet and then I was handed my watch back. I asked about swapping out the stainless steel bracelet for my Nato and the male employee insisted that I take it upstairs to do so. Confused, I followed him because he wouldn't take "no" for an answer.
Once we got back to Status, he insisted that there would be a new charge to swap out the Nato even though I had explicitly stated to them initially, before my payment, that I expected my Nato strap to also be swapped onto my watch. Status continued to insist that they would only do this for a new charge.
Incensed, I took my watch and left and went back downstairs where Prince Collections swapped it out for free.
