Scandinavian Design Gallery — Hotel in Hoover

Introduction (SERVICE): I have done business with Scandinavian Design Gallery and their owner Teresa for decades. I am not an easy client and like most married couples, my wife and I don't always agree. This makes working with us no walk in the park. I have ALWAYS felt heard, I have always been treated with professionalism, I have always felt whether I have purchased or not, wanting to come back and shop again.

Selection: You can't talk about selection without also talking about quality of merchandise. There are only a few furniture retailers in Birmingham that are worth shopping at if what you want is excellent quality. Scandinavian Design has that quality. Don't get me wrong, if you have a lower budget, they have excellent selection also. But if what you want is something that will last and look great for decades, you are in the right place. Like most great furniture stores, some items can be purchased off the floor and others have to be ordered. Either way, you always get what you want.

Value: Everyone looks at value differently. The best way to express why I think Scandinavian Design is a GREAT value is to explain what I just purchased. We were looking for a bedframe for a new high-end mattress we just purchased. We looked online like everyone else and none of what I say hit me. I could by cheap and get the job done. At this stage in my life, I want quality and service. So we went to Scandinavian Design. I walked the store as I always have "Lusting" for the Stressless Couch I always wanted, and my wife won't let me purchase. There in the back was a Zero Gravity, Massage, automated pedestal with ALL the bells and whistles. The mattress on it was a Tempa Petic which is also VERY High End. The sales associate hit the Massage Button on the wireless remote and the decision was made instantly. I asked for the price and to have my wife join me. The price was reasonable, part of that is Teresa and staff are always fair. I also believe we should always buy in the town we live it. That is were the personalized service is the best. When I went home, I did my normal research and found that unit had a better model. I called Teresa and asked if they sold the "Top-Of-The-Line" model in that brand. She said yes, I said can you sell me that and just charge me more. She said of course.

Delivery: There is a small charge for Delivery. Dominic (Dom) and Russell did the delivery. These guys were over the top great. Now what I expected, and my expectations were exceeded. They were professional, quick, careful and kind. Yet another reason to do business with Scandinavian Design Gallery.

I have always loved the store in Hoover. I purchased a chair and ottoman, table. Which I have enjoyed for around 5 years. We bought a sleeper sofa in June of this year for our small home. I was told by the sales person that it would sit like another sofa I sat on the day my husband and I went to look. It doesn’t. Also the cushions are a mess. They are constantly shifting, even with no one sitting on the sofa. The leather quality seems to be very good and the color is beautiful. Now we bought this because my husband was diagnosed with lung cancer and I thought we may need a second bed. Thankfully we did not. So because I was trying to prepare for what happen with side effects from cancer treatment and believing the sales associate, we are stuck with a sofa that neither of us can stand to sit on. Also the cushions look messy regardless. I missed the return time due to being preoccupied with my husband and what he ate and everything that goes with cancer. My grandmother took me here whenever I was moving into my first apartment, and they have many beautiful furniture and decorative pieces here. I fell in love with a set of gold lamps with white shades, and my grandmother treated me to them. We had a really good experience there and the only downside to the purchase was the price. The two lamps I chose cost $500, and my grandmother's kindness was the only reason I was able to afford them. Otherwise, if you can afford it then I have no negative comments!
