We took my grandmother to Jennie Stuart for increased shortness of breath, central cyanosis, and confusion. When we got there, they had policies implemented for COVID-19 which is very reasonable. We did not mind the wait. Of course we understood that an emergency room would be busy, and that it would be time consuming; however, what I didn’t understand and in fact cannot fathom is the lack of unprofessionalism that is within this facility.
My grandmother got one talk with the nurse practitioner and he discussed nothing further than relaying that her x-rays “looked fine”. I the. Asked about laboratory values, etc. and was blankly ignored. When asked for a copy of lab values and imaging to make an educational medical decision for her once discharged… they said “we don’t have to provide you with that”. After they left, her oxygen then downtrended to 81%-88% and maintained. No one came back in. We then noticed her blood pressure down trending to which her MAP was below 50. No one came in. The only time thereafter that some came in was with a wheelchair to wheel her out.
After getting my grandmother out of the ER, I then listened to her lungs in which she had extensive exploratory wheezes. They did not give her a nebulizer treatment. They gave her PO dexamethasone and PO Zofran. I then got her home and to no avail she could barely walk- surprise, surprise this is very common with covid. She could barely walk from the front door to the kitchen counter, and therefore I had to get a bedside commode and place it in her living room. The emergency room needs to start suggesting other alternatives because they offered nothing. The ER APRN literally asked if you she had oxygen at home, and when answered “no” he was like, we’ll… make sure you see your PCP first thing in the morning. Could we have at least been referred to an infusion center for BAM or something?
I work in healthcare, and I understand the limited beds, and that covid is getting out of control, and that empathy and sympathy fatigue is a real thing but, you cannot continue to treat people with the utmost disrespect.
I will never suggest family, friends, acquaintances or anyone for that matter to your hospital. I will 100% drive to either Bowling Green or Nashville. Again, I understand the frustration and exhaustion that comes with covid. I work the covid unit at my hospital, and can quite frankly say your hospital is not doing it’s job in ensuring people of the best quality care possible. I think there should be sensitivity training for all ER staff, and that includes providers as well. Because the “because I don’t have to, I’m not going to” is not going to cut it. Working in healthcare is privilege not a right, and coming from a nurse a well… it’s a choice to help and serve your community… if you’re not there to do just that, then maybe you should find another career path.
Again, this hospital should be ashamed of itself and quite literally I’ll be cheering for the day the doors...
Read moreThe only reason for a single star is that the medical and tech professionals were very good and deserve a much higher score. Unfortunately the billing side would have warranted a negative score.
I had a CT scan done in January. I was told my portion of the co-pay would be $950 and had to be paid before I would be provided any service. I took them at face value and paid the "co-pay" amount. Didn't think anything else about it. Until mid March when I received a bill for almost $7000 claiming my insurance had not paid anything for the CT scan. The letter even threatened collection action if it wasn't paid within 15 days even though it was the first bill they had sent me.
Looking online, I found that my insurance had in fact already resolved this bill back in January only two weeks after receiving the claim. I also found that my co-pay was only supposed to be $57. So I called the number on the collection notice to discuss.
I was told not to worry about it because that had been re-submitted (don't know why they would be re-submitting something that had already been addressed months prior). So I asked the young lady on the phone if I would be seeing a refund of my almost $900 extra I paid above the co-pay within the 15 day deadline they were threatening me with. It has been over two months and I have not heard a peep from them or been refunded the extra co-pay they charged me.
I guess I'll have to start looking for any government agency that investigates hospitals for fraudulent activity in billing and insurance claims.
UPDATE: Spent the past year working with the Murray Calloway Co. Hospital on a medical issue which they have done a wonderful job resolving so I didn't have time or inclination to address this junk from Jeannie Stewart. Side note - not a single billing issue has cropped up from Murray. They even over billed something once and credited that forward to the next bill without me even knowing it until later.
It has been almost a year and I have just received a bill for the same services. Wasted my time calling the Jeannie Stewart billing department just to be told the same BS as last time "Oh we're so sorry that is listed as needing to be adjusted. You shouldn't have gotten a bill for that" (of course no mention of the over charge of the falsely claimed co payment). I had continued primary care at Jeannie Stewart this past year, but have now canceled despite Dr. McNamara and Nurse Practitioner Adams-Leighner being very good. I will be finding my medical care elsewhere. If you have the option, I would recommend doing so as well. Now that the Murray hospital has me sorted out, I will start seeing what can be done about these double billing attempts. First stop - my insurance company to see if they know how to best address this attempt to...
Read moreI Do NOT recommend you go to the ER while Dr. Amanda Roger’s is on staff!!! You will ALWAYS get sent home with little to no concern from her about your health problems!!! I’ve seen her on 2 separate occasions.. one being last year almost 6 months pregnant with my son . I came in having extremely bad cramps and blood clots passing. I thought I was miscarrying and informed her. After long waiting and test she said she seen nothing wrong and sent me home to wait it out. Nothing got better and I went back a day later. She remembered me and came in as if I was bothering her with the same problem. I let her know I never dealt with this so I was scared. Again sent me home after treating said I was fine and left me on my way. 2 days later I got rushed back up to Jennie Stuart just to get taken my ambulance to Nashville Vanderbilt and admitted into the hospital due to problems with my son. I ended up having him 3 months early.
The most recent occasion - I’ve been having an allergic reaction to meds for months now. I finally was about ti get in to see an allergist and he gave me meds ( shots ) that my body did not agree with & he did not test me for before hand . I went into the ER throwing up, hives, throat hurting / closing, joint win, nerve pain, etc. I felt like I was dying from the inside out. I gave myself a epi pen till I got to the hospital. Long story short . AMANDA was my provider this morning as well. She gave me fluids Benadryl and basically sent me on my way and said I was fine. 2 hours later I’m back at the hospital for the same reason and got seen by the BEST doc I’ve had in the ER!! he saw what was happening and went into action! He admitted me into the hospital and gave me the meds while I was there what I needed to get past my reaction . I thank God for him caring enough to see how bad I was. They kept me for 2 days for monitoring and he made sure I was getting what I needed for my flair ups while in the hospital.
After being discharged I had yet another reaction and went back to the hospital same day. AMANDA was the working provider again . She rememberd me once again and because I was discharged early that day did not want to provide me anymore help. I had to drive to Nashville and be seen there to help calm down the reaction I was having.
Long story short DO NOT GET SEEN MY DR . AMANDA ROGERS!!! She will send you home with only a get well statement and hope you don’t die. Very unprofessional and doesn’t care about her job. Only...
