If you want to sit down at a place that is going to complain to their customers about not booking correctly and make you feel uncomfortable during the process this is the place to go. I don't think it's the customers fault that your website or booking process is not clear enough. The barber that was doing the haircut would not stop talking about how the appointment was booked incorrectly and that it should have been booked under specialty haircut and not just a "haircut". It made my friend extremely uncomfortable. The barber also stated that there is a time difference between each haircut. One takes 30 mins and the other 45 mins. Again, how is this the customers fault when this is the 4th time visiting this location and this is the first time this conversation comes up. It was very unprofessional of the barber and of the establishment to make someone feel uncomfortable. You are trusting someone with your hair, while they are complaining to the customer of a mistake that they did not know was made. What makes it worse is that the barber only took 20 mins!!!! it was rushed and not done right. $50 for a terrible job that was rushed. It was $50 because tip was left while booking the appointment. Don't complain to your customers while you are doing your job!! have some sense and speak to a paying customer with respect. I did not name the barber out of respect but if...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat traditional-type barber shop for a guy to get a cut or a shave. I called in the afternoon to ask if they accepted walk-ins, which they said they did, so said I would drop by later. When I entered at 4 pm and told them I was a walk-in, they immediately paired me with a barber. For many services, ready availability like that can be a bad sign, but this particular hairsmith, Jonah, had been working at East End Barber for 5 years, and I was not disappointed.
After showing him an example picture on my phone of how I'd like the cut to look and discussing additional details regarding lengths, tapering, and style in the back, Jonah went to work. He was professional and made easy conversation about a variety of topics with me. I did ask for a slight adjustment in the back after seeing the pre-final result, which Jonah duly made. Upon checkout, I also picked up some pomade after consulting with the attendant as to the various styles.
I ultimately came away very satisfied with my experience, realizing why East End Barber ranks so highly in many best barbers lists. You'll pay a bit more than a SuperCuts ($40 for a regular cut), but you get quality for that expense. If you're a guy looking for a good cut (while they may be able to do women's cuts, that does not seem to be whom they cater to), East End Barber is a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLike kimchee, a good haircut isnāt just about the cut.. itās about the craft, the care, the unspoken legacy behind each motion. Watching my mother make kimchee was like watching time slow down. No measuring cups, no fixed rules.. just intuition, tradition, and a kind of quiet pride passed from generation to generation. She didnāt just make food. She preserved memory. She seasoned stories. She fermented the soul of a homeland she chose to leave behind.
In many ways, east end is no different.
Each visit feels like another batch of kimchee.. familiar, but never exactly the same. The sheers snap like background music to conversations that range from nonsense to necessary. The rhythm of the cut, the smell of talc and aftershave, the barbers moving with the same unmeasured precision my mother used.. it all brings me back to something sacred. Something earned. Something passed on.
Thereās an art to this place that doesnāt rely on trends or tutorials. It lives in the hands of people who know that showing up, knowing your story, and remembering your name matter just as much as the fade. Thatās rare.
So yeah.. east end is a certified vibe with some incredible artists that work there. I can't say it any better than that.
This is also my formal request to add the artist, Cindy Lee, to the shop playlist. ...
