We asked for a glass of water for everyone on the table and the waiter comes back out with bottles of water for everyone. We then asked the waiter why he brought bottles. He pretends to not understand so we then explain in Spanish because we think he isn't understanding English very well, but still, pretends not to understand. Finally he says, why would you want tap water?
This is only the beginning of a bad dinner experience.
We then put in our order for our entrees and he asked if we want to order appetizers but we gently decline. He insists, we must try an appetizer. Feeling like he is pushing appetizers down our throats, we ordered their "pulpo gallego". Let me just say, I have traveled many Latin and European countries and ordered "Pulpo Gallego" so I know what to expect. Well, I was very disappointed. I nicely asked the waiter if the "pulpo" was missing maybe sides like potatoes or cracker as It was looking pretty lonely in it's plate and not very appetizing. He said, no, that's the way it comes. I ask for the cook, the cook comes out and says, you are right, normally octopus is accompanied by potatoes. He asked if I wanted him to remake it and add potatoes. I thought this was so nice of him and agreed. After our entrees came out, I asked about my appetizer, the octopus, but they were still " working on it". By the end of our meal, I asked again and the waiter brought the cook back out. The cook asked, do you still want it? I said "yes". He says, "ok, give me a few minutes" What??? I'm still waiting on my appetizer? Unbelievable! After I pay out my check, I ask them to just put it to go and wait a few minutes at the table. After 15 minutes I just leave. Terrible customer service.
Too bad that the Entrees I ordered were actually very tasty and this would have totally been my to go restaurant but their service is just awful! Also, I'm not one to give terrible reviews as you can clearly see from my many reviews but this was clearly just a bad experience.
Note: This was my second time trying out and giving them a chance. First time was a similar experience with regards to them shoving menu down our throats and the waiter had to be called because he wasn't comimg to our table. Entrees were good which is why we returned and wanted to love this place so bad.

Read moreI am originally from Spain and I highly recommend their food. I was there last week and here is a summary of what I had. The ham croquets were very creamy and with lots of flavor. The piquillo peppers were outstanding and as the saying goes "finger licking good". The spicy potatoes (patatas bravas) were hand cut and prepared to order. I admit that I dip them in the cheese sauce server with the croquets because it was so good. The best part was the paella. He did not have any left (we were there late after lunch), but he offered to prepare us one if we were ok to wait 35-40 minutes. Before we knew it, we had the paella in front of us. We could not finish the whole thing as with all of the appetizers, our appetite was larger than our stomachs. It was fantastic. The ingredients were very fresh. The owner, Jose Antonio was very proud of them and showed and talked about the ingredients before adding them. The wait for the paella passed fast because in typical Spanish fashion, we were talking with him and his lovely wife while it was cooking. Between eating and talking, we probably spend three hours there, including coffee (which I asked him for the brand because if was the perfect end to the meal). I do not want to diminish the food experience, but the conversation with him and his wife were as important to us as the meal. We are already planning to go back to try the rest of the Spanish menu and their Cuban food. Regarding the Cuban food, while we were there, a Cuban lady came in and bought all the remaining croquets. Also, a Cuban man, who said that he eats there all the time, told us that they have the best "ropa vieja" in the Houston area. We could see that the Cuban community appreciates them. Talking to them reminded me of the cafes in calle 8 in Miami. I may have gone long in this review, but it was...

Our visit to Mr. Sabor was extremely disappointing. The hygiene conditions were subpar for a public establishment, raising concerns about cleanliness and food safety.
The service was even worse. Our waiter was not only unprofessional but also lacked basic knowledge of the menu. His attitude was rude and dismissive, especially toward our group because most of us did not speak Spanish. A true hospitality business should accommodate all guests with respect and professionalism, regardless of language.
As for the food, it does not represent authentic Spanish cuisine in any way. We were expecting a delightful experience, but unfortunately, everything—from the service to the quality of the dishes—fell far below expectations.
This was meant to be a special family outing, but it left much to be desired. We will not be returning.
Without seeking controversy, your response only reaffirms my negative experience. When working with the public, arrogance has no place.
Yes, I am referring to Mr. Sabor, located at 1000 Telephone Rd in Houston. Google provides a platform for each user to share their opinion based on their experience. Mine was not positive, and I am simply leaving my review so that readers can consider all comments before visiting your restaurant.
Being open to constructive criticism is beneficial for any business. The chef may be Spanish, but the food is not. Spain has a rich and diverse culinary tradition that goes far beyond what was offered here. I’m glad some people enjoy it, but I’m certain their opinion would change if they truly experienced authentic...
