Don't waste your time going here. Even if you have a water bill of residence in the valid area, you need a matching drivers license and that person to be present, as well, not to mention catch them on their few hours of operation a month there's likely to be a number of other "issues" preventing them from accepting the waste. So if you, like me, planned on cleaning out your dead grandpas estate of his old chemicals and paints, you should "go to the one closer to where you live" and not the one closer to where the chemicals actually are apparently. There is no mention of drivers license requirement on the website, absolutely unhelpful and rude staff, with contradictory statements and a dismissive attitude. It's insane the hoops you have to jump through to properly dispose of hazardous waste when it should be the easiest process in the world to keep people from just throwing it in a landfill. Even if someone is from Wisconsin or France, who cares, if they have hazardous waste I don't want that in landfills or in the...
Read moreQuick and efficient but there is some important information missing from the website (at the time of this posting): -Tires cannot be mounted on rims, they take tires only. -Gas containers cannot be empty. They take them if they contain fuel, but not the empties. They said I can take those to the city dump. The last time I tried to dispose of old (metal) gas cans at the city dump they said I have to take them to the ESC. So that's conflicting. -They don't take old gas tanks. I realize this is not something most people deal with but I have a couple off an old truck and no one will take them, not the dump, not the ESC.
It would be nice if there was a complete list of acceptable and non-acceptable items on the website. Obviously such a list exists so why not make it available to the public? Basically if you have anything not specifically listed as "acceptable" they can use their own discretion and reject it. Expect to be disappointed and you won't be...
Read moreThis company does not care about you or the services you need. Went to the Environmental Service Center to take several old paint cans for recycling and was told that they could not take my paint for recycling because I pay my water bill to the City of South Houston. I was told to go to the City of South Houston and get a "voucher" from the city and then in turn, I could take the "voucher" to Pasadena to have my paint recycled. Went to the City of South Houston and was told that they do not offer "vouchers." Hopefully SWM can get clarification on their web site for who they service, as well as, clarification at their facility for giving correct "voucher"...
