Ocean Heart Liquor Market and Deli — Local services in Huntington Beach

We've gone to this market multiple times when in town and it was always friendly. Today we were going to grab some sandwiches and my 4 year old needed to use thr rest room. When we asked the man, he loudly and rudely yelled "no public restroom"- when we said it was for our 4 year old, he rudely pointed towards the beach and said, "there's one that way". We asked one of the people on their patio the directions to the nearest bathroom and they nicely gave us directions. My son had to walk a few blocks down, cross the busy intersection on hwy 1, down the stairs to get to one. I've been able to use the rest room at this market before and if adults were not allowed, we completely get it. But this was a 4yr old and the man working there was extremely rude and uncalled for. Never going back to this market again.

New edit to respond to owner's response below: The fact that you are NOW apologizing for your rude actions says a lot. You also insinuate that my 4 year old and I would have damaged or stole from your store is insulting. Your store was also EMPTY. No events, no crowds. You did not provide any instructions to the restroom at the beach, you just yelled "No public restroom" and pointed outside. A kind neighbor of yours did offer us instructions after you turned us away. And yes, a one star review is deserved, especially as you claim, this is a family owned business where children are turned away. Maybe have better customer service to families? Walking that far for an adult may not be a lot, but for a child on the verge of tears because they need to use the restroom is a long distance. No apology needed. You already said plenty. Take care.

EDIT (11/25) to yet another response from this market. The first response from them was DELETED. IF you did review footage, you are lying and saw/heard the truth. Also, you wait 3 months after this happens to review instead of immediately? Security videos don't last past 30-90 days for stores (Ive worked in stores and know to "review the footage"). I find that so hard to believe. He did yell and was EXTREMELY rude. Your first response was VERY different from this, so why take it down and now post this one? Your first one admitted fault. Ive been consistent in MY story, wheras you have not been. You want to try to save your reputation- this doesn't make you look any better for a family owned establishment to lie about the way you acted. I dont mind businesses saying No. Thats not the case- I worked in customer service as a waitress and store front. I get it. I don't even think the customer is always right because I get it. Your store used to offer restroom services and changed. This is HOW we were treated by your employees and how you're representing your business even now. Im not lying in the slightest. Your neighbors also know Im not lying - they were there that day, giving me directions for my son. I hope others here see how you treat people, even online, you call people liars when you know the truth. You're welcome for the patronage. it won't happen again. Keep deleting your responses too. Live nearby and their opening was such a fresh breath of air as opposed to a similar store nearby. This one is always friendly, humorous, and seeks to find anything we need that's unusual or hard to get. Their sandwiches are first class, especially the hot ones. And if you like to talk Lotto, Mega, or Powerball numbers, this is the place -they know the most common winners and losers. Fun people and I don't know their names. They stock all, even firewood for the beach or our fireplace. Most of all, they have a heart - I was in at closing one night and forgot my wallet and they told me to go home and bring it back when it's convenient for me! The other store nearby I went to for years wouldn't let anyone slide on a nickel and their food...

We just moved a block away from this market/deli. The deli has been great. It's definitely saved us since our kitchen isn't ready to cook in yet. We've been there probably 5 times in the past 3 days. We've had the HB Sun (spicy turkey sandwich), gyro wrap, breakfast burrito, veggie omelet, and the cheeseburger. Everything has been great. Very friendly service. Looking forward to trying the Ruben and pastrami sandwiches, and their pizza. The market is great too. Good beer, wine, and liquor selections at reasonable prices. Overall a good snack...
