Summer is almost upon us, so it felt like a good time to recap my favorite beach playgrounds in Orange County! All of these beach playgrounds have parking and restrooms close by, but I recommend you use the trolley in the summertime to avoid the headaches of traffic and parking. 🏖️ Marina Park in Newport Beach. This one is waveless, so perfect for littles! They are also hosting an outdoor movie (Disney’s Lightyear) THIS Friday May 19 at 7pm. There will be FREE popcorn, candy, and activities. Make sure to bring a chair and blanket, along with jackets, to make sure you are comfortable! 🏖️ Huntington Beach All Inclusive Playground: Close to the pier, as well as an accessible beach walkway that allows wheel chairs to get better access to the ocean. 🏖️ Aliso Beach Playground: Great playground, but BIG waves! Not the best for swimming. There is a trolley stop here, which makes it convenient if you don’t want to deal with traffic and parking. 🏖️ Main Beach in Laguna Beach: Close to all the shops, art galleries, and Heisler Park. Kids love playing on the “lifeguard tower” in the play structure. Other Beach/ Playground Combinations: 🏖️ Davenport Beach & Booster Park in Huntington Beach: Waveless beach, small and good for littles. You need to walk from the park to the beach, but it is very close. Parking is very limited since it is a residential area. 🏖️ Seabridge Park: Very similar to Booster Park, in the same area of Huntington Beach 🏖️ Balboa Peninsula Park: Down the road from Marina Park. Better if you want waves or to be near the Balboa Fun Zone & Ferry 🏖️ Seal Beach Pier Playground: Haven’t been to this one but I hope to check it off this summer! Are there any other playgrounds I left off? Great having a park on the beach for the kids, with slides and swings and some other things. Gives parents a small break from having to be so alert when playing in the water. Plus makes an extra reason to stay longer at the beach without the kids getting bored. HB is a really nice little city. Quite safe and chill, with amazing weather and locals 👌🏽 it's always a pleasure to visit

Great park for kids on the beach in Huntington Beach off pch and ninth st. Paid Street parking available. My kids love this place because we can play on the structure and then go for a 10 min walk to the pier.

The All-inclusive Playground on the Beach Park aka Pirate Park is directly on the beach near 11th Street and a whopping 4,660 square feet in size. There is nearby Handicapped parking and nearby ramp Accessibility which helps those with limited mobility, and the park is fully rubber matted throughout.

🌴 Trees for shade (see 11th Street Park)

🚻 Bathrooms are on the main bike path nearby

🚗 💰 Pay for Parking. It is plentiful with multiple lots to choose from down the street

💦Water Fountain nearby (see 11th Street Park)

♿️ VERY Accessible (parking, rubber playground foundation, ramps, and inclusive swing)

🧺 Benches for picnics or sitting nearby but only 2 in the park of each (see 11th Street Park)

🏞 Large Grass areas across the way (see 11th Street Park)

🗑 Trash bin

🚲 Trail or path thru the park

🛝 3 Playground Units

Here you will find a pirate themed playground for older kids (5 to 12 years) complete with tightrope and plank. Some scavenger hunt activities are posted around the park that can even 6 the adults to participate! There's a 2 swings for bigger kids, 2 toddler swings and an accessible one.

Plan accordingly as this spot is easy to spend a day at but gets busy. Known for vagrant population. Inspect park thoroughly. Keep in mind rust is inevitable at the beach so keep an eye out for broken and rusty metal. Our "Huntington Beach Moms" know where the true "Pirate...

As a mother of 2 special needs children from NorCal, I was super excited to hear about this park and came to check it out. I was very disappointed.

Here’s my review: Positives- 1-on the beach! (Everything’s better on the beach 😉) 2- bathrooms (toilets) close by 3- rubberized flooring makes easy rolling with wheelchair/stroller 4-children love it 5- cute pirate theme ☠️

Negatives- 1- not all structures are accessible- only 1 structure actually is and it’s not entirely safe 2- surrounded by sand- no wheelchair access to beach area ( I’d like to see a path down towards the water with little sandy patches) 3- minimal accessories available for immobile people (one special swing, one small seat (see photo), one ramp leading to teeter totter) 4- not enclosed- safety is a huge concern here! 5-bathrooms do not have sinks or water faucets for cleaning up. And the wait for the bathroom is usually about 10+ people long 6- Accessories geared towards small young children. (Our 16yo couldn’t swing because they were too low to the ground) 7- sensory wall was difficult to manipulate and quite boring

Overall, I was disappointed! Our experience was the same as with any other playground. Basic amenities, with not much variety. We were not...

We really enjoy that this park is located on the beach and so far has been kept up nicely. There are also 2 restrooms next to it which was convenient when they built the park. The cons are that they only put in 2 regular swings, 1 baby swing and one seat swing. HB has a large population of children so I don't know why they wouldn't of included more swings or even a set if swings in the sand next to the enclosed park. Some of the floors and stairs of the equipment is now rusted and the paint peeling off so it's not safe if a child falls or is crawling. Overall we like the closeness to the water and sand and that so far it has not been a hangout for...
