Here you will find a pirate themed playground for older kids (5 to 12 years) complete with tightrope and plank. Some scavenger hunt activities are posted around the park that can even 6 the adults to participate! There's a 2 swings for bigger kids, 2 toddler swings and an accessible one.
Plan accordingly as this spot is easy to spend a day at but gets busy. Known for vagrant population. Inspect park thoroughly. Keep in mind rust is inevitable at the beach so keep an eye out for broken and rusty metal. Our "Huntington Beach Moms" know where the true "Pirate...
Read moreAs a mother of 2 special needs children from NorCal, I was super excited to hear about this park and came to check it out. I was very disappointed.
Here’s my review: Positives- 1-on the beach! (Everything’s better on the beach 😉) 2- bathrooms (toilets) close by 3- rubberized flooring makes easy rolling with wheelchair/stroller 4-children love it 5- cute pirate theme ☠️
Negatives- 1- not all structures are accessible- only 1 structure actually is and it’s not entirely safe 2- surrounded by sand- no wheelchair access to beach area ( I’d like to see a path down towards the water with little sandy patches) 3- minimal accessories available for immobile people (one special swing, one small seat (see photo), one ramp leading to teeter totter) 4- not enclosed- safety is a huge concern here! 5-bathrooms do not have sinks or water faucets for cleaning up. And the wait for the bathroom is usually about 10+ people long 6- Accessories geared towards small young children. (Our 16yo couldn’t swing because they were too low to the ground) 7- sensory wall was difficult to manipulate and quite boring
Overall, I was disappointed! Our experience was the same as with any other playground. Basic amenities, with not much variety. We were not...
Read moreWe really enjoy that this park is located on the beach and so far has been kept up nicely. There are also 2 restrooms next to it which was convenient when they built the park. The cons are that they only put in 2 regular swings, 1 baby swing and one seat swing. HB has a large population of children so I don't know why they wouldn't of included more swings or even a set if swings in the sand next to the enclosed park. Some of the floors and stairs of the equipment is now rusted and the paint peeling off so it's not safe if a child falls or is crawling. Overall we like the closeness to the water and sand and that so far it has not been a hangout for...
