I signed up my son with Tom Vo's Taekwondo back in 2018. My son was only 4 years old. It has been a great experience for my son. He would lead warm ups daily. We came 2x per week. I still remember during his first belt testing and he had to stay still until the Masters said they can move. He ended up staring at one of the masters the entire time. I did tell him to just concentrate and look at something. I wasn't expecting him to stare at a Master 😂 When we had the covid pandemic, they continued teaching through zoom. At some point, the location we went to, Huntington Beach, decided to break off into its own Martial Arts place. They stated the martial arts would be similar and close to what it was. There was poor communication, we were told we can choose to stay with Tomvo or go with them. But they never said when we had to decide by and when the change was happening. We ended up just staying at the HB location even though it's not TomVo. The quality went down and they focused more on fun aspect and opening their child care program. They even decided to have a Panda as their mascot. I don't see how martial arts conveys as Panda but ok. We stopped attending classes for over a year. Now to think of it, we probably stopped for 1 1/2 years. A few months ago I was excited because I heard Tom Vo was taking back the Huntington Beach location. Once it was confirmed, i started bringing my son to classes again. They have been working with my son and me in our adjustment back to them. They evaluated my son and suggested to move him down a bit so he can learn more and have more time to be ready for their advance group. I completely agreed. He has gone through a tournament and 1 belt testing so far. The tournament was fun and it was very encouraging to see how all the families really cheer on for each other He has expressed his interest back into Taekwondo and stated he enjoys it more now. The staff are friendly and treat each student with the appropriate discipline they should be...
Read morePrior to enrolling my daughter into Tom Vo's Taekwondo, we were with another school. We transition over to TVT and I have to say it was the BEST decision we made. She has learned so much on the aspect of taekwondo. She has and continues to build up confidence, gain many new friends, and has such a great bond with each Masters. This dojo has an INCREDIBLE team. The Masters are incredibly knowledgeable and skilled. They take the time to ensure that each student understands the techniques, regardless of their skill level. Their encouragement and personalized feedback have helped my daughter improve tremendously! The dojo has a fantastic atmosphere--clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything needed for effective training. I love how the classes challenges my daughter physically and mentally, helping her grow not just as a martial artist but as an individual. The emphasis on respect, discipline, and self-confidence is evident in every class. The sense of community here is unmatched. Everyone is supportive, whether you're a beginner or an advanced student. We really do become a family here. If you're considering joining a taekwondo dojo, I can't recommend Tom Vo's Taekwondo enough! Whether you're looking to learn martial arts for self-defense, fitness, or personal growth, this...
