23January 2025 If I could give this this store staff a flat zero for being racist I surely would! After searching on their website last night to see if they had the type of birthday cards I wanted and their website showed that they did have them in stock, I went in today looking for three birthday cards I was greeted by a lady named Charlotte who followed me around the store all the while I was in there. There was another lady who kept watching me as well. I took my time looking around at different items since this is the first time that I've ever visited this store. I found one card after looking through several They only had a small, disorganized section with a few selections of types of Hallmark Mahogany cards for black clientele. I had previously pulled off my jacket and laid it in the bed of the cart because it was warm inside the store. As I was nearing the checkout counter with the one card in hand Ms. Charlotte walked up to me and proceeds to ask me "did you find everything" all the while she's picking my jacket up looking under it to see if I have anything under my jacket. I looked at her like lady what are you doing and I said, " I'm not taking anything out of your store." I slammed the one card on the counter and said, "As a matter of fact, I'm not even getting this card." The cashier behind the counter ((who was the other lady had been watching me), looked at Miss Charlotte and Ms Charlotte says to me, "Oh, I was just playing with you." Oh hell no she wasn't!!! You don't play with a grown adult accusing by them without saying that you accusing them of stealing. Ms Charlotte has the nerve to touch my personal belonging by proceeding to pick up my jacket and look under it which indicated that she thought I had hiding something to steal under it. I walked out of that store with righteous indignation, but they better thank God, thank God, thank God that I know Jesus. Thank God the meet this me versus the one I used to be because there could have been a whole lot of things said that wasn't said. I will never, never, ever return to that store!!! I would never encourage anyone to visit that store. It is has an absolute feel and proven culture of racial profiling. I felt that way all the while I was in the store, but I didn't care about because I was going to putchase what I came to get, nbut to be actually confronted with the racist attitude, that's a whole different story. #Racism2025!...

Read moreA mixed bag with this particular Hallmark shop ... all Hallmark shop's are expensive but for what these shops have in them, can't beat the selection. Whether it's the cards or the Hallmark Christmas ornaments, which is a favorite of mine. I've bought enough Star Wars Hallmark ornaments over the years to erect my own Star Wars Christmas tree!!!
Back to this particular Jan's Hallmark, there used to be three, one in Madison, one on University, but both of those shops closed. This is the last Jan's Hallmark shop. Poor management? Poor treatment of employees? Hard to say but there is a story here ... There's another Hallmark shop in Parkway Place mall, not a Jan's Hallmark...
