I'm typically not one to write negative reviews but after the experience I had here on New Year's Eve I feel like it was warranted. It was probably the worst restaurant experience I've ever had!
I made reservations for my wife and I at 7 PM and arrived right at 7. When I went up and told the hostess my reservation, I was told it would be a 30-45 minute wait for my reservation! Knowing it was New Year's Eve and restaurants were busy, my wife and I decided to wait. We sat outside for 30 minutes and I went to check to see how close we were to being seated and was told by the hostess it would be at least another 30 minutes! Luckily, there were two open seats at the bar. So we decided to sit there.
We sat down at the bar at the same time as another couple who had also been waiting on their reservation. We immediately knew what we wanted to eat and drink because we had plenty of time to review the menu while we waited. My wife got a drink and I had a water and ordered an appetizer. When the bartender brought my wife her drink, we went ahead and ordered our entrees. Nothing too fancy. My wife ordered fish tacos and I got a sirloin with crab cake and two sides.
While we sat, talked and enjoyed our appetizer, another couple, whose reservations were also delayed, came and sat between us the other couple. After some time had gone by the first couple, who sat at the same time as us but ordered after us, had their shared entree brought to them. No big deal, they were sharing an entree so it was quicker to make right? WRONG! After sitting for a little while longer, the other couple sitting between us had their entrees delivered, one of which was almost identical to what I ordered! Keep in mind, we've now been at the restaurant over an hour and the second couple sat down probably 20 minutes after us!
The bartender noticed I was looking strangely about the situation and I saw her go over and check her computers. * I didn't know at the time but she was actually putting our order in that she had forgot to do earlier when we actually ordered it.* She immediately came over and told me that "an error had occurred" but that our food would be out any minute now. After watching the other two couples, who ordered after us, finish their meals, our food was finally delivered about 20 minutes later.
My wife ate one taco and asked for a to-go box, as I inhaled my over cooked steak and mediocre side items because I was starving by this point. I asked for the check and when the bartender handed it to me I decided to check it because it was such a bad experience. Lucky I did! When she put our order into her computer for the second time she doubled the entrees on the check. Almost doubling the amount of the dinner! I told her the check was incorrect and she looked at it and apologized. After fixing it, she came back and apologized again for everything else that went wrong with the reservations and the wait for the food because she knew that our experience was terrible!
Needless to say, I will never be going back to Bonefish Grill again. The management, hostesses and bartender were all terrible at their jobs. I debated whether or not I should have said something to the manager at the end of the meal but while we were waiting for our meal to be put into the computer another couple who had been there before us gave her an earful for a good 5-10 minutes about their terrible experience that night. Apparently, they had reservations as well and decided to sit at the bar and was notified via text that their table was ready an hour and 45 minutes AFTER their reservation and after they had already finished their meals at the bar. We were also there almost 2 hours which is too long to be at a restaurant and a 2 hour waste...
Read moreI want to start off by saying the manager that helped us at the end of our situation. Unfortunately, I couldn't catch his name, but he was absolutely wonderful!!! We ordered our food directly from the website. And I noticed that the had snow crab for a really good deal. So I placed the order along with some other things. And proceed to check out the order. I even put my name, email address. And phone number and we decided to order with curbside. When we pulled up, we waited a few minutes. And it ended up having to call the store so somebody can bring out our food. A gentleman handed us the food and we made it all the way home, not thinking anything was amiss.By the time we got home , we realized that the snow crab was not in the bag. I proceed to call the store.Thinking that they just mistakenly forgot to put it in the bag. The gentleman on the phone informed us that they no longer sold the snow crab and haven't sold it sense November. The gentleman may have been confused or proceed to lie to me and said that he has tried to contact the "Doordasher" about the missing snow crab. I told them we didn't do DoorDash. We did curbside pick up and then he proceeded to tell me that he tried to contact me. Mind you that I never got a call from bona fish grill. And don't forget that we did call the store first when we made it to the curbside and no body still bother to inform us. So we proceed to just ask for a refund. He said he would get his manger and that they couldn't do a refund bc we would have to "Call the third party group" we placed the order on. I was confused because the third party group i ordered from was their website. So when he came back to the phone with no manger and told us the number to call. We hanged up the phone and called said number. Turns out the number he gave us only deals with their gift cards and they told us to call bona back. Frustrated now we call bona back and spoke with a lovely lady on the phone who finally got the manger. He was super nice and apologetic and even gave us a refund. We are absolutely very appropriated that this gentleman helped us!!! Couldn't say thank you enough. However having to go through all of this. This is why I'm leaving the review. Please just call the store to place an order. You might have better...
Read moreSaturday, May 12, I ordered a soft shelled crab that was supposed to have a MD crabcake in the middle. Everyone from Maryland knows that you don't get Maryland crabcakes anywhere but Maryland. with that said, every year I do get the soft shelled crab meal at bonefish since I no longer live in Maryland. It is normally fried golden brown, unlike the charred black version I had Saturday night. If there was a crabcake on top of my soft shelled crab, it was tasteless, meaning I ate two different crab and had no seafood taste in my mouth. there was not a "cake" that I cut in to; it was like an ounce or two of pretend crab pieces on top of the burned soft shelled crab. Because it had no crab taste, I asked for cocktail sauce just to try to add some taste to it. The crabcake had no seafood seasoning in it so if it was truly a Maryland crab cake, they would've included Old Bay, or some other type of seafood seasoning.//The Applewood Bacon macaroni and cheese (that I paid extra for) had 1/2 slice of bacon on top, with pieces cut into centimeter sizes. The pasta had no salt. I couldn't taste the cheese! When I reheated it the next day at home, I added cheese to it. So I paid $23 for two different types of crab, could not taste any crabmeat, and at the end of the meal, I asked for a loaf of bread because I was starving. my bonefish in SW Florida usually does a decent job with the softshell crab, which they offer in June - and cook it only till it's golden brown. Still crunchy but not burned. the broccoli was fine, but I left a restaurant starving, with no crab meat taste in my mouth. The crème brûlée was made correctly but the two mint leaves on top - initially I thought were basil because I didn't smell mint. They are a garnish, but I did put it in my mouth to see if it was basil or mint - each has a distinctive odor. there was no taste. it looked like the leaves were healthy but it was tasteless. The brûlée was prepared properly, with two blueberries on top. My husband's salmon was fine. the best part of my meal was the bread and butter, and the crème brûlée. Our bill totaled over $75. Epic fail for me. I would've had a better seafood meal at...
