I like it and usually like the atmosphere, but there's a day janitor that thinks he owns the place and has a real hard time remembering that he was Homeless once and if they hadn't hired him, he'd still be on the streets. This man (and I use the term very lightly) thinks that people should simply walk in buy stuff and leave. Everyday citizens alike are targets of this guy. He hates the Student population because they're what keeps him employed by moving tables, making the occasional mess. Locals know to avoid this guy. . There are rules pertaining to loitering, etc. All well and good, but this guy doesn't care if you're following the rules or not. And he's the one person that rides his bicycle inside, complains repeatedly about some of the people that are currently trying not to freeze to death. . It's security's job! And the security team does a really good job of getting rid of drunks, troublemakers and the obnoxious that find their way inside to cause trouble. If an issue arises during security hours, they're right on top of it, calming situations, removing trouble or calling PD to handle it. . These people not only frequent the PUBLIC AREAS, but also spend a lot of money there. CVS Pharmacy benefits tremendously from everyone that uses the building. Including all the people that this guy complains about. Honestly, he should have been fired decades ago. Give him his retirement already and get rid of the negativity that he brings to everyone, especially the students. He is constantly complaining about having to move the tables and chairs back to their original locations. Students from all walks of life use the Mall daily, either passing through, attending University events or just having lunch in the food court area. . Lots of people go there especially when it's so conveniently located at the Municipal bus interchange. Every bus rider in town goes inside for miscellaneous items or even a bathroom. . I'm sorry, but during the day this guy literally has nothing to do except empty trash cans every 4-6 hours, which literally takes a few minutes, then he sits, watches and complains all of the rest of the day. He doesn't have the stumbling drunken morons or emergency cleanups like second shift. He doesn't even have to vacuum like 3rd shift does, and he complains about client customers like he owns the place. Paying customers of many of the stores are literally being harassed and harangued by this guy, and no one says anything or complains because he works there. I know a guy that wanted to open a small business in the Mall until he saw what this guys nature was all about. He took his business elsewhere and it's flourished in its alternate location. Hodge lost out on that deal big-time, and they never even knew it or why. One day, someone will figure it out. Especially since this guy looks more homeless than some of the truly homeless that do frequent the Mall. These people don't do anything wrong. Most have hundreds, if not thousands of dollars a month in prescriptions that CVS fills. They buy food in nearly every restaurant in the building (many more now then before). And the coffee, holy cow do these people drink coffee from not only Teaspoon's and the the Cookie Store, but from Starbucks across the street too. . . All anyone can hope for is common courtesy and respect, but you'll be lucky to find...
Read moreI love the unique selection of shops and the variety of restaurants at this location. I truly enjoy the "NOT A MALL" atmosphere and ample parking. My Favourite Places: Tied for 1st Place: BLICK ART AND SWEETS & TREATS Tied for 2nd: ICHIBAN, FREDDY'S AND PANARA BREAD 3rd BUFFALO WILD WINGS Tied for 4th: COOKIES & MORE AND THE HAWKEYE FAN SHOP. I enjoy many more of the shops but these are my faves. Thank you for the wonderful experience of The Old Capital Town Center. There is only one issue I would like to see improved: MORE ♿ PARKING. As a person in a wheelchair, ♿ parking is a MUST. I realize the parking structure and street parking are utilized by more than your patrons however, for where you are located, there really should be more ♿...
