We chose Herteen & Stocker for a custom wedding ring set after a recommendation from a friend, and I am so glad we did! I would absolutely recommend to anyone who is looking for custom jewelry.

I had heirloom family rings from important relatives who had recently passed, and wanted to make a new custom piece using the stones. We met with Kate who took incredible care of us from the first time we met to picking up the finished piece. We were able to text back and forth with any questions or updates, and she got back to me quickly every single time. I was able to fully trust her and H&S through the entire process.

We had an initial consultation where Kate sketched a few ideas out with us, then we received a digital rendering of what Kate had created. I had quite a few changes I wanted made from the first rendering, so we met and Kate was SO understanding and supportive, ensuring that everything was changed how I wanted and envisioned. The second rendering reflected all our changes beautifully, so we moved forward with sending in the original pieces and receiving a mold to try on and make any final changes.

The finished product is absolutely stunning. It is more perfect than I could have imagined. Most importantly, it is very reminiscent of my grandmother’s wedding ring while still being modern and timeless. In 1994, my husband (a senior at the University of Iowa at the time), worked with Herteen & Stocker to design a one-of-a-kind engagement ring for me.

After my husband passed away 6 years ago, I’ve thought a lot about how I could do something special with the ring for my daughter who is now a senior at the University of Iowa.

I now live in Colorado and instead of doing something with a local jeweler, I decided to go back to where my husband was treated so kind and would add another layer to keeping his memory alive.

I reached out to Herteen & Stocker to see if they would be willing to work with me to create something extra special to represent her Daddy & me for her graduation this Spring. Kristin got back to me immediately and was completely invested in the project from the very beginning. I had decided to create another ring, but it couldn’t look like an engagement ring. Kristin and I shared Pinterest ideas back and forth until we settled on the perfect design. Kristin even helped me secretly plan to have my daughter stop in-between classes to measure her ring sizes using a potential Christmas gift as an excuse.

Hello there, allow me to tell you a story.

Since our first date I knew Shannon was the one I wanted to share my entire world with. I also knew when and where I would pop the question, on the next trip to Disney World and in front of Cinderella's Castle. I'd get in trouble if I did it anywhere else.

But what I didn't know was where to find THE ring. You know the one she's been dreaming of her entire life. We started looking at engagement rings one weekend, just for fun I told her. Couldn't give away the surprise.

We looked at some very beautiful rings at various locations, however there was something different, something special about the little, family owned shop on the corner of Washington and Dubuque in downtown Iowa City. I'm talking of course of Herteen and Stocker.

A wonderful showroom, knowledgeable staff and the friendliest customer service is what you will experience I promise. The thing that stood out to me though and made me feel really comfortable was how excited Kate was and how geeky she was about diamonds. I learned so much and after spending a few visits just talking to her and her family, I felt like we had been long time neighbors.

It was such a magical experience. One Shannon and I will never forget. Every time we visit Iowa City, stopping in to say hi to those who made this memorable will always be at the top of the to-do list. Thanks again. Can't wait to pick out the wedding...
