I came in on the ISU+IU game day from Ames and was really excited by the menu. Our server, Lucas was very kind and checked on us frequently. The dining area was cute but there was food all over the floor and it seemed like the staff wasn’t very organized.
Once we ordered the experience kind of changed. It took a very long time to get our water cups refilled and it seemed as if our server was not allowed to get it himself? He apologized but my wife and I watched him standing at the bar waiting for a pitcher for a long time. We waited almost an hour for our food after being told it would be about 20 minutes. We ordered drinks about 30 minutes in but our food ended up arriving first and we decided to cancel our drink orders, unfortunately.
The food was really good and we decided to forgive the wait and cleanliness as it’s obviously going to be busy everywhere in town today.
Another server began sweeping the floors (thank god) and we were getting ready to leave when someone I assume to be the owner loudly told him he was “not to sweep with customers in store.” I’ve never been in a food establishment that allowed food particles to be left from other table.
Anyway, I don’t leave reviews hardly ever but I’ve been a server from NY to LA and have never seen anything so just honestly weird from a manager or owner, nor have I ever heard of any leader telling their staff not to clean, or a bartender not allowing their servers to get water. Again, Lucas was very, very sweet and I hope the best for him, and hope this restaurant can get it together because the food WAS...
Read moreLet me keep it a buck fifty with ya'll, I felt this joint is gnarly asl. My brother Khurt and I came in late one night for his birthday at a time when most restaurants were closing, and we didn't want to be a menace like that. Thankfully, this place closes at 12 on the weekends... I think. Anyways, our server Faith was very attentive, friendly, and fun. She also knows how to make one of the meanest Old Fashion's in town. The menu at the time was very small. To me, a limited menu usually indicates that the quality of the food is high since the repetition is there, especially if there was only one option for the burger: a double stacked Cheeseburger. And boy did it deliver. My man used 80-20 beef which gives the burger more moisture, and bro made his own burger sauce to compliment. I would say it was a pinch too salty if I wanted to be extreme, but I also argue that too much salt is better than not enough. One of the best burgers I've ever had in town for sure, and definitely worth the price. The cook (forgive me for not remembering your name) also attended us to make sure the food was good, which it was. Definitely would have given Kel Mitchell a run for his money. And my respect goes out to any cook who checks on their work, and really cares about the product that they put out. Needless to say, I'm going back someday with a group of friends or family, most likely during the night. Also faith, my boy only got to 19/24...
Read moreMan, I wanted to give this place a fair chance given it was homecoming weekend and places were busy. They only had a bartender and two wait staff. We were seated promptly and then overheard the other wait staff tell subsequent customers the kitchen is short-handed and the wait for food could be 1-1.5 hours. We were not told this upon seating. The place was perhaps half full at this point. Most turned away after hearing the wait.
OK, so someone in the kitchen called in, food is going to be a wait. Maybe then focus on what you CAN CONTROL and refill waters, ask for further drinks, and focus on exceptional customer service elsewhere. My family of 4 was there for 1.5 hours in total. Our waters were refilled once. Neither adult was asked for anything further to drink after one drink each. The food was good, but not worth 1.5 hours. Onion rings seemed withered and frozen out of a bag. More like shoestrings. Mozerella sticks also store-bought with weak marinara. Chicken sandwich and burger decent, but in general it just seemed like everyone there was absolutely done with their day, and it was 7 pm.
Adding a 4% credit card charge seems excessive as well.
I am willing to give this place another chance on a subsequent visit as our daughter is only a freshman. I may update my review later since most seem to have had a much...
