I'm pretty sure these guys are not of this earth. I have a Mac, which means I know absolutely nothing about computers (Truly), and of course spilled coffee on it. I reached out to Apple to fix it and it was going to be $900 (before tax!). I brought my computer to TK hoping Apple was wrong in what needed fixing, but unfortunately the whole thing needed to be replaced (again, Apple sucks and makes it impossible to fix just one small part without tearing the whole thing apart.)
These dudes walked me through the whole process of how the repair would work and the bulk of the cost to fix the computer came from the price of the part. They even showed me the listing of the part and that they weren't making the price up. When the part came in, they started working on it ASAP. The tech knew I needed my computer super badly, so he stayed late and came in early just to get it to me sooner!!!
I had A LOT of interactions with these guys and they were cool and helpful every time. There was one hiccup at the end that almost derailed my experience, but they are angels and fixed even that.
There was about $100 difference between what they quoted me and what the cost ended up being because the worker forgot to factor in some things to the quote (like shipping for the piece from Ebay, and some labor costs). This was jarring in itself, but the person who called me to deliver this news was not one of the guys I'd been interacting with regularly and he was...flustered to say the least. He went from talking about hardware for the computer to the fact that I still owed money, and I thought he was saying that they forgot to install something. I was trying really hard to follow what he meant and he lashed out a little but in his irritation.
A few days later, I received a voicemail from the head tech guy ( I think?) and he said he heard about the situation and to fix the mistake I didn't need to pay anything further. I didn't have to even say something and they recognized the hiccup and fixed it by waiving costs??? That along with everything else is why I think they're more than just...
Read moreI really wanted to enjoy my experience with TKIowa, but I can't shake the feeling I've been ripped off. I spilled liquid on my laptop, and took it in for a cleaning. I was told my bill would be in the $50 range by an employee. About a week later, when I went to pick up my laptop, I was surprised when I was told my charge was going to be over $100. The guy did reduce my bill to a little under $100 because of the discrepancy, but I still ended up paying about twice what was initially projected.
I take the laptop home, and about half of the keys do not work. They simply do not register when pressed. I have no idea how this was overlooked. I bring the laptop back, under the impression that TKIowa would try to make things right. They took the laptop without giving a quote. When I call a few days later, they tell me that it will be a $120 bill. They claim that the part needed (a new palm rest) is $80, and they would only charge me for the part and $40 for labor. Besides the fact that I could find the palm rest online for about $60, I would have expected to pay for the part alone at most, since I had to bring the laptop back after the first "repair".
I just ended up paying the bill, hoping to have a fully-functioning laptop this time. All of the keys did work, but my touchpad does not work. Moving the mouse and all touch inputs work, but physically clicking the touchpad doesn't work 50% of the time. I'm upset that I paid over $200 and waited 3 weeks for a half-baked job, but there's no way I'm taking the laptop back to be charged another $100+ when I have little confidence that the device would be in proper...
Read moreI would like to RAVE about this place. Nick came to the rescue with huge helpings of patience, expertise, problem-solving know-how, suggestions, and helpful feedback when I was faced with creating a photo slide show to be screened as the centerpiece to a celebration of life event for my late husband. I was on a tight timeline with a lot on my mind and he made it happen, putting in successful efforts with all aspects of the technology required to get the right results. The results were spectacular. Oh, and did I mention kindness? Yup. Lots of that, too. Also, I watched him manage several customers at once, all with courtesy and effectiveness. I walked away with a product, a slide show set to music, that could not be more meaningful to me and to many who will see it in the coming days (weeks? years?). The price for all the skill and attention and technology that went into this was exceedingly affordable. To sum it up: I am grateful beyond words and will be going back there without hesitation should I need technology help again. Also: free parking! Thank...
