From chef to another or at least trying to be a cook i can't talk bad about anything unless it's really bad . When I called to order I say make sure you don't put spicy sauce in my food . And 2s from a African to another i know for sure how our food is made and what season you out in it but pls do add a bit more salt and seasonings to the food pls . And 3rd pls don't over charge food that don't have flavor and if you going to overcharge the food make sure tor portions are correct pls . I know I ordered take out but the oxtail plate didn't have any flavor and was plate. 2 oxtail pls a cabbage and rice and beans for $24 Im sure that's over charge. Goat meat wasn't enough and the jollof rice wasn't as well for $20 . But like I told the owner I'm a chef as well and I'm try her food and let her know how it tastes. Personally anyone can make food better than that at home if you don't mind trying it pls let me know what you think. And 1 stick of beef kabob that has 3 small pieces of meat is $5 really come on my African sister. Please do come to Des Moines to my restaurant or anyone that reads this and I'll make you anything you want for free I promise it's well worth it . I know you will be mad too for spending $75 for 3 plates that's not worth it Jamie Oliver can do better

The place inside and outside had no cars or people. The woman who took our order was kind and gave us recommendation when asked. We waited about 20-25 min for the food to be made. Let me start off by saying we have never had African food nor have we ever had lamb or ox tail. This was a new experience but we went into it with an open mind. We ordered the ox tail meal, the okra soup with fufu and beef and lastly the jollof rice meal with lamb with a side of plantain. The rice was honestly the best part of the meal and as for the protein the ox tail was tasty but it did have a decent bit of fat. The okra soup with beef wasn’t my flavor but the fufu nice. We did get a red sauce that was spice level 1 but I would say it should be a spice level 3 with how spicy it was. I will say for the quality of food you get it is a bit pricey. Three meals ended up being $72. Overall it was a nice experience trying something new.

I recently visited I Love Fufu with my girlfriend, and we tried a couple of their dishes. I ordered the vegan spinach dish with fufu, while my girlfriend had the jollof chicken meal with plantains. Our waitress, Clark, was very helpful, explaining the menu and checking on us throughout the meal. I shared my concerns about the vegan spinach dish, which lacked seasoning and flavor – all I could taste was the spicy sauce. Clark took my feedback to the owner, but unfortunately, he didn’t seem to care, dismissing my concerns by saying that a vegan dish doesn’t need to have much flavor. The restaurant itself is small, with basic exterior decor, and the overall experience didn’t feel as authentic as I had hoped for African cuisine. That being said, the jollof rice was flavorful, and the plantains were fantastic. My girlfriend enjoyed her meal, but the vegan dish could definitely use improvement.

Today is October 3rd 2024, I went here yesterday around 12-2 PM, this is the 2nd time I went here. The first time was an average good experience, there were 2 men who believe who worked there a couple months ago, and they gave a great service, but the 2 women I had yesterday were having major difficulties, they were kind ladies. But whoever hired these ladies is a real dumb ass. The lady taking orders barely knew English, she said she spoke France, and we had to get help from one of the customers for basic things. But one of the things is that she could not count change. She would have a hard time doing basic math, and not relying on her own calculator, I had to pull out my phone and use the calculator and showed her! I could’ve easily taken more than what I should’ve gotten back! The poor lady kept asking for help and calling the manager that wasn’t there! And this time I noticed the Egg rolls were not filled with beef and chicken like they were last time I came here, they looked like cheap vegetable egg rolls you can get anywhere else, not those meaty flavor fulled beef / chicken egg rolls. And that’s another thing. They had a hard time understanding what I wanted, it’s like they never heard the word eggrolls before, I had to show it to them on the menu and repeat myself multiple times. And the service took about 1 hour! For me...

This restaurant is the BEST. My favorite is the beef pilau, but I’ve also tried (and loved) the peanut butter sauce with beef, fried plantains, and the gyro meal, and I’ve stolen bites from family members’ plates of fish, chicken, and jollof rice. The pilau (a dish of rice cooked with beef and a ton of delicious spices) is so flavorful, and the kachumbari (a tomato salad with herbs and garlic) goes with it perfectly. The peanut butter sauce was absolutely delightful — I’ve always loved peanut sauces and curries of all kinds from different cuisines, and this one was no exception. Everything is cooked with so much love, and you can get so many different kinds of foods there that you just can’t find at other restaurants around here. Plus everyone who works there is so kind and welcoming, it really makes the experience of eating there wonderful. It’s a little pricey, but every penny is worth it to get to eat a lovely plate of comforting food that will most likely give you one or two leftover meals as well. Truly cannot recommend this...
