I've been going to Mahem for years to play Magic the Gathering. They have great events lined up all the time, and for things other than magic! I see people playing Pokémon a lot as well as other tabletop card games. They also have an area in the back of the play area to set up Star Wars and Warhammer if that's your jam. It's been a minute since I've gone regularly, but Mondays used to be commander night! I'd usually go on Wednesdays because it was a little less busy for my play group. The area is clean and well maintained. They also have card and board games to borrow! As for the store itself, it offers an insane selection of anything you could want from an LGS. Lots of single cards for purchase in the cases and binders as well as larger packs/boxes for people looking for bulk purchases. They have tons of accessories as well (play mats, sleeves, dice, ect.). They have a huge selection of boardgames and comics as well! And an entire area devoted to minis, painting, terrain, etc. Best of all, every single person that works there is absolutely amazing and knowledgeable about the products they offer. This is a wonderful gathering place, with a great store. When I first moved to DSM and knew no one, I was able to find a group of people easily who were kind and patient with me as I was just picking magic back up. The Facebook group is well updated and lists events. I'd highly recommend draft if you're looking to meet some people...
Read moreThis Walmart is very small. It has less in the grocery area then a Neighborhood Market. The people are friendly the work here and helpful. But I won't go here because I can get to another Walmart that is much bigger with allot more choices in an extra 7 to 10 minutes. It's with the approximate 20 minutes round trip for the extra inventory. This store has a display cart for the produce dept. And a display cart for the bakery dept. So 6 foot cart of bakery goods and a 6 foot cart for the produce. W Ith a Hy-Vee a block away I don't know why they bother. I feel they should do a Full scale Super Walmart with the college there. Something tells me politics is involved here. Just my opinion. A Although I give it a 3 because of the people and their efforts to make the best of what they have I would not recommend this store unless it's your only option. As far as Walmarts go it's the worst one I've been to. Only because of the inventory. What's there isn't what I'd call high volume items for the most part. Just simply doesn't have enough of what I need to make me want...
Read moreIt's a fairly clean store I will give it that. The selection is fairly limited (granted it is a smaller town but still). I have been here several times and nobody has ever really caught my eye (in a good way) when it comes to customer service... nobody in the aisles says hello or asks if you need any help...said hello as i walked up to the checkout lane amf stood at the checkout line for a whole minute (I was the only person checking out) while the cashier chatted with her friend and ignored me... rung up my one item and barely spoke loud enough for me to hear the total (probably wouldn't have understood what she was saying unless I was looking at the screen...) and then out my item in a bag set it on the bag Turner and handed my my receipt and went back to talking... no smile, no hello, no thank you.... most employees there will at least say hello... even if that's all they say it's better than...
