I thought I was the only one that experienced a bad time but thank goodness I read the reviews.
It was a cabin but it had alot of problems. When I checked out I asked for the Manager, the individual in the front desk said the manager wouldn't be in till after 1:oopm (it was 9am when I checked out.) I gave her information on the cabin but I doubt it went back to the manager and if it did the manager didn't give a d%$# about what I said. I even took photos with my digital camera for proof.
1, There was a huge crack in the bathoom floor that looked like an earthquake had occurred and the floor came up about 3 inches. I can't believe anyone would rent a cabin with that huge floor opening. If I had injured myself I would of done a lawsuit, doesn't anybody check these problems?
If you stepped on the floor between the bathroom and the bed room it felt as though you would go right through the floor. The wood below it was rotten and they didn't care. I doubt if the manager had stayed in that cabin they would have complained and not stayed there. I would be interested to see the manager's home and see how they compare.
The smoke dector was open with no batteries as though somone had checked it, found out it didn't work and left it open to repair but never came back to do the job. The smoke dector was still open and hanging from the roof.
The majority of the logs had openings so that you could see outside. The openings weren't only in the walls but all around the cabin. There was actualy daylight peeking though on at least 3 dozen locations.
The water in the sink would not shut off, it kept dripping 24 hours a day, I had to put a cloth in the sink bottom it keep it from letting us sleep.
The curtains had huge rips in them. They were so old I believe they were disinegrading.
If it had been possible to locate another room I would have done it but we arrived late and there was no phone in the room (surprise, surprise).
The restaurant across the street was very clean and good so there was no problem there.
I wish I had checked the reviews before signing up for this cabin, I never would have stayed there and if I have to stay there now I would be better off on the floor near the highway.
How is it possible to rent a room in that condition and not have the building inspectors shut it down? If I knew who to call and complain to (remember I have photos) I would do it. Anyone have an idea who I can call?
I hope the company sends me a review notice, I would tell them in no certain terms, but of course the manager is never around, they have young girls working the front desk so they receive all the complains.
Anybody know who I call or write a letter to inform them of this...
Read moreThis part of the river is absolutely gorgeous! We were lucky to only wait one hour for an evening float on a Saturday night (1 week ago). We saw 4 moose, a few river otter, and breathtaking scenery. We took our time and float almost the entire way in the inflatable raft, very comfortably with 2 adults and 3 kids. I will agree with the previous posts about wait time and a somewhat disorganized system. We attempted to float on 2 different days later in the week- both times a 2 to 3 hour wait time although vans parked, tons of rafts, kayaks, canoes etc sitting on the beach and with 45 minutes of opening. Mack's Inn can certainly run their business as they want, but it seems like many simple things can be done to make it a more efficient company- which in turn would be more profitable and have many happy repeat customers. My suggestions from having done numerous floats and rafting trips at other outfits-
Overall we really enjoyed our overnight stay at the rv park, and the float we were able to get on. We knew to bring our patience, as we had read numerous reviews prior to coming. The prices are great, the river is fabulous and the people were friendly. With just a few changes, this could be an amazing place to recommend to friends...
Read moreMy family booked a river float with Mack's Inn earlier this year. We booked in May to float the river the first week of July. Their cancellation policy states that if you cancel more than 48 hours in advance you get a full refund. We were watching the weather and getting concerned because it was still pretty chilly. Three days before the river float we decided to call it off because the temperatures were going to be in the low '60s, we had a bunch of small children with us, and we didn't think it would be an enjoyable time. I called them repeatedly and never got an answer, so I left a voicemail message with my booking number requesting that the booking be canceled. The next morning I did the same thing and sent them an email stating that I needed the booking canceled and I wanted it in writing and date stamped so they couldn't say I hadn't given them enough notice. I was traveling and my phone was out of service for pretty much the whole week. When I got service back I got a text message about instructions for what I needed to do before the float. I also got an email stating my booking had been canceled after the scheduled start time of the float and was not given a refund. I have called repeatedly and sent emails and have received no response. They have not refunded my money ($1500) and have not responded to a single attempt to contact them. BUYER BEWARE! When they say you get free cancellation more than 48 hours in advance what they mean is that they just won't answer phones and emails and then they can say that you didn't cancel it in time. If I could give them negative stars I would. I have never dealt with such a horribly run business and such...
