Old West Escapes — Local services in Island Park

Definitely recommend and would return! This is the CLEANEST accommodation we've ever stayed in. Units are newly built. My family of 5 stayed in the Mercantile and it was much more spacious than I imagined. Cabin is minimalistic but we had what we needed. Close to town but not right on the main road, which was nice. Perfect spot for us to jump on the highway to Yellowstone, west entrance. One thing that didn't bother us, but I noticed-stepping out of the shower/tub seemed a little high; We didn't have any trouble with it, but I could see an elderly person or someone with mobility difficulties having a little trouble getting in and out of it. This was our fourth stay at OWE, and unfortunately, it will likely be our last. The cabin itself was wonderful—clean, comfortable, and fully stocked. However, we were disappointed to see that new cabins are being built, blocking what used to be the breathtaking mountain views. We always chose Pony Express for its unobstructed views to the north, east, and west, but now three new cabins completely block the northern view. It’s taken away much of the charm and now feels more like a crowded resort. While I understand the owners are running a business, it’s sad to see a priceless view replaced with the sight of another cabin. We spent a week in the Livery Stable. It was very comfortable for a couple. It could easily accommodate two couples or a small family. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and well equipped. The owners are friendly and responsive. The area has much to offer. It is a reasonable driving distance from Yellowstone NP (about 25 minutes to the west entrance, and within 2 hours of all the major attractions), and Grand Teton NP (about 2 1/2 hours to either entrance). There are several nice state parks and forestry parks nearby. Also, there are several adventure outfitters (fishing, boating, 4 wheeling, horseback riding, etc.) in Island Park.
