I am writing this review due to a recent disappointing experience at ReUseItJax. I have attempted to contact the owner of the business twice via email, hoping to resolve this matter before resorting to writing a negative review. I allowed a week for a response but, unfortunately, have not received any communication. I would gladly update this review to reflect a positive outcome if we can reach a resolution that satisfies both parties.
I arranged to pick up a network equipment rack from the warehouse after business hours on a Friday. Since ReUseItJax does not offer delivery (which is understandable), I rented a vehicle to transport the rack. Before confirming the rental, I ensured I would arrive at the warehouse on time (before 6 pm) and proceeded accordingly. However, when I arrived, there was no one at the back of the warehouse, and all doors were closed. After knocking with no response, I called the business multiple times and eventually reached the owner, who instructed me to go to the front where someone should assist me.
Upon reaching the front, I encountered an employee who was about to leave. They informed me they were unable to operate the POS system to process the transaction. I asked the employee to contact the owner, whom I had just spoken with, to find out how to proceed. Unfortunately, the owner indicated that nothing could be done at that time. No alternatives or solutions were offered, not even an apology or an attempt to work something out on Monday.
As a loyal customer and a fellow veteran, I am disheartened by the level of service I received. I arrived on time as agreed, yet I was unable to complete my purchase due to a lack of support and communication.
I am attaching the email I sent to the owner along with my receipt for the U-Haul truck as proof of the efforts I made.
Once again, I leave this in the hands of the business owner. I encourage you to respond to this review, reach out to me, and work towards a resolution. I see that you often respond to reviews, even those that seem trivial. Here, I am seeking a constructive dialogue and a positive outcome, and I hope you will engage in the same spirit.
EDIT: It appears that the business owner does not care about customers and instead chooses to argue with customers on a public Google review. A better response would have been to reach out to me privately. Instead the owner wants to try and lecture me (a customer) about how I am wrong and what I did wrong.
EDIT: The final call that was placed (where the owner told me to arrive BEFORE 6pm) started at exactly 3:42pm and lasted 20 minutes and 2 seconds. After the call, I left the house at 4:24pm (22 minutes later) since I needed to stage the area to make sure that I had clearance into the house for the unit. I will include screenshots of the call logs since the owner is trying to be vague and I am posting screenshots of everything
I seems at this point that the owner has no intention of attempting to reach out privately for a resolution that will make the customer and the business happy.
EDIT: You list your business as "Veteran Owned". Are you implying that you should get...
Read moreI've been a software engineer for 10 years. I've been visiting Sensible Recycling/ReUse IT for 7 years- since 2018. In that time, I have mostly walked away empty-handed because prices were so ridiculous. The two core issues are:
Employees are not tech-literate. Pricing is comparable to eBay/Amazon.
Because the staff are not tech-literate, and simply search eBay for pricing information, they often try to sell items that are discontinued or otherwise worthless (see my other review on their other business listing).
Because Reuse IT's inventory comes from "donations", the items for sale are often defective and/or damaged. Why pay $X for a laptop that has "just a small crack in the corner of the screen", is missing an SSD, and you have to hunt down a charger for, when the same laptop on eBay for ~$X has none of those strings attached?
All storage is physically destroyed by default- UNLESS it is soldered onto the device- or they don't know what a device is and that it contains hard drives. I once purchased a NAS from these guys that still had the previous owner's data on it. Fortunately for them, I am an actual industry professional and erased the drives before repurposing them.
But explain to me how it's so necessary to destroy all SSDs except for the ones that can't be destroyed without destroying the entire device? Come on, you know the answer is "because then we can't sell the device", and yet every 10TB SAS drive you shred is $100 down the drain and more trash in the landfill (no, you can't "recycle" a shredded hard drive).
The owner already knows how I feel about them destroying storage media yet purporting to be an eWaste "recycler"... but for everyone else- physical destruction of storage media is often UNNECESSARY. Again, back to the lack of tech literacy. You can, in fact, erase data from a hard drive or SSD and the data not be recoverable. We invented hard drives. We know how they work. They aren't some black box where we can't tell if there's data on them or not.
It has been genuinely frustrating watching this company be mismanaged for almost a decade. At this point I go when I'm in the neighborhood just to see if they came to their senses and priced items to move, but it's been 7 years and I think I just need to let go.
Regarding the recent review about the MacBook that was remotely locked after Reuse IT sold it... just refund the guy. I'm very familiar with the "QC" at this place. I have personally purchased an item from Reuse IT (Sensible Recycling at the time) that was completely unusable because it was locked to the previous owner (DaVita Dialysis). Don't tell us you guys don't make mistakes. Confirm it's the same MacBook (serial #) and if it is, take it back and refund the guy. My God. Some things as a business you just do.
The lesson here, if nothing else, is NEVER, EVER buy an Apple device from Reuse IT. They cannot be trusted to sell you something that won't be locked down later and they cannot be trusted to make it right if/when they...
Read moreRecently went to ReuseitJAX and bought several items, got my receipt and took the smaller items to my car. I then got my dolly and went back in to get a pair of speakers I bought. I had wheeled one out to the parking lot when the store employee came out and grabbed the dolly and wheeled it back in. He said there was something he needed to check first. He then went back the desk and said that there was an issue with the speakers and that they should not have been sold. I told him I have the receipt – they have already been paid for. He said he would refund my payment and I said that I did not want a refund. Furthermore the receipt states that all sales are final. He then started taking one of the speakers to the back. I tried to take the other one out but another person (supposedly the manager / owner) came out and almost made me drop it, ripping my shirt in the process. He then proceeded to tell me that the speakers were not priced right and that I was trying to steal from them. He said I should know better than to accept the price that was listed and the employee’s word that the price was correct. I told him I paid the price they had marked on them and showed him my receipt. He said he didn’t care and that they were priced incorrectly and my money would be refunded. I asked him what he was going to do about tearing my shirt and he said I was lucky he did not beat my @$$ and he wasn’t doing anything for me. I do have a video of the last part but can’t post it here due to profanity in the video. I was then provided a receipt where they credited my card for the speakers they wanted back which is when I left. I don’t think that touching a person or their property is appropriate. Nor do I think forcing someone not to take what they legally bought / paid for is appropriate either. Needless to say I will not be buying anything from this place and will tell everyone I know to avoid dealing with them. If you do still want to risk dealing with them I would recommend the follow: 1 – ask for the manager so he can wake up from his nap in the back and come out and verify the price of your item so he won’t accuse you of stealing from him as he yells / curses at his employee for selling something at the posted price and you for buying it. 2 – afterwards take your items to the car and exit as fast as you can before they change their mind. 3 – If there ever is an issue with what you bought, pay no attention to the all sales are final printing on the receipt as they will be more than happy to...
