A Cozy Getaway with Room for Improvement My daughter and I recently enjoyed a quick getaway at this hotel, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The room was clean, with comfortable beds and pillows, and the housekeeping staff promptly provided fresh towels and washcloths when needed. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.
The hotel's on-site facilities were convenient, with a snack bar and a restaurant offering a wide range of menu items from breakfast to dinner. The parking lot had ample space both in the front and back, and we appreciated the back entrance leading directly to the hotel. Moreover, the presence of night security on-site added an extra sense of safety and security.
The room itself was equipped with essential amenities, including a microwave, small fridge, and a coffee maker, making our stay comfortable and convenient.
The highlight of our stay was the warm pool, which had great operating hours, closing at 10 pm. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
However, there were a few aspects that could be improved. Firstly, the building's ventilation, especially in the hallways and elevators, seemed insufficient, making it uncomfortably hot in the elevators. The elevator's operation also appeared sluggish, taking about 20to 30 seconds for the doors to open after reaching the desired floor.
Moreover, the hallways and elevators could have been cleaned more diligently. During our stay, we noticed a dirty sock left in the elevator for two days, and there was a persistent unpleasant smell, likely exacerbated by the warm temperature. The room doors could be wiped down as well. The hotel should pay more attention to cleanliness and maintenance to enhance the overall guest experience.
In the room, the air conditioning didn't blow cold air, but rather felt more like a fan. This made it challenging to maintain a comfortable temperature during hot days.
Regarding the pool, while it appeared clean, we didn't notice any chemical smells that indicated regular maintenance. The sign stating that the water is recirculated raised some hygiene concerns, and it would be reassuring if the hotel could be more transparent about their pool maintenance practices.
On the positive side, the hotel offered affordable rates, and we felt safe throughout our stay. However, it would be a nice touch if they could provide a display with information about the best local beaches or restaurants to visit, enhancing the experience for travelers looking to explore the area.
Additionally, it would be beneficial if the hotel stocked a few more essential products for guests' convenience. When I inquired about women's sanitary pads at the front desk, I was disappointed to hear that they didn't have any available. Other hotels I've stayed in offered items like razors and deodorant if needed, so it would be great if this hotel could follow suit.
In conclusion, our stay at this hotel was enjoyable, thanks to the clean and comfortable room, accommodating staff, and convenient amenities. However, there are some areas that need attention, such as ventilation, cleanliness, and additional guest products. With these improvements, this hotel has the potential to be an even more attractive destination for travelers seeking a pleasant and...
Read moreWhile traveling to south Florida on November 12, 2023, my wife and I stopped over in Jacksonville FL for a night sleep. Never in our lives have we ever met such an inconsiderate and insensitive person as the General Manager of the Wyndham Garden / Jacksonville.
My wife, a bilateral below the knee amputee, has special needs when lodging in hotels, which we do anywhere between 12-30 days annually. While her handicap does allow her to wear prosthetics in the daytime and to remain relatively independent, she must remove them to rest and go to bed. At that point, she becomes plainly disabled and in need of help. Since most hotel beds are very high, she cannot get on them unless she can step up to them on her knees. This generally means she must use a yoga block we travel with in combination with a standard straight back table chair. In this particular situation, our room was not furnished with such a chair.
As we usually do in such situations, we asked the front desk attendant if she could help my wife by providing us with a chair. She informed us the General Manager had directed her to not provide the help needed. Understanding she was strictly following orders, we asked to speak to the General Manager. He came out to see us. He could clearly see that my wife was handicapped. I explained the situation and the possible implications of not being able to access the chair requested but TO NO AVAIL. The General Manager categorically refused to provide a chair and also categorically refused to be part of any discussion that would help us find a solution. He made very clear to us that the rooms were designed as they were and that no furniture could either be added or removed from them. Informed that my wife may have to sleep on the floor, the General Manager did not care and maintained his decision. The front desk attendant was clearly uncomfortable with the situation and other guests in the lobby, as we, were astounded.
My wife and I travel as much as we can. We have visited Canada, many US states, many European countries and Africa. NEVER, NEVER have we been confronted with such a humiliating and demeaning behavior. The General Manager essentially told my wife he would not lift a finger to help her as if she was a second-class citizen who did not deserve to lead as normal a life as she could.
ALL establishments we have visited over the last 10-12 years have bent over backwards to help my wife. NEVER, NEVER have we been disappointed with the efforts put in by hotel staff to accommodate her. UNTIL NOW, that is. Who would have thought that in 2023 disabled hotel guests could still be served in such a degrading way.
In light of the above, it is our view that The General Manager should be severely reprimanded by his superiors and should be obligated to undertake Disability Awareness Training. We should also be refunded the amount we had to pay to suffer such...
Read moreHi, I stayed at this hotel following a surgery. The night of the surgery there was a roach, crawling up my foot. Which the roach was killed I left it there on the floor for them to clean it up!!! I called downstairs to management. I said I’m coming down there. I have a picture of this roach. She said we don’t need your picture and you are on pain medication from your surgery. You don’t know what you’re talking about and this is a 50-year-old hotel. She kept saying you need to listen to me and what I’m saying to you stop talking What do you expect there’s going to be roaches It’s an old hotel. plus the room is very damp and moist. The bedding is wet when you touch it and the pillows also so if you have a sinus infection or if you have respiratory issues, you’re going to get sick hence I have a sinus infection. It made it 10 times worse I asked the lady for reimbursement for the room. I had to stay another night because I had postop the next day following a large procedure so I was stuck she said I will not reimburse you for this room. We do not do reimbursement just because you found a roach at our facility and she put me in a different room at 11 o’clock at night. It was hard for me to pack up my belongings due to me having a surgery my mother had to help me move rooms. The manager puts me in a tiny room when I rented out a large room. The room was very small, very damp, very wet. The pillows were wet. The bedding was wet. The carpets were disgustingly wet when you walk on them your feet turn black you have to take a shower and wash your feet as well as in the other room. They’re very dirty when you go to use the bathroom and sit down on the toilet the toilet seat is even damp and wet. The air is wet. I told the manager the facility is not up to par. She again says it’s a 50 year-old facility. What do you expect? Very rude. I did not get reimbursed. The facility is not up to par so if anyone is trying to stay there it does have roaches you need to wear flip-flops or shoes everywhere you go even probably to bed because if you get up to go to the bathroom, your feet are going to feel disgusting this place is not...
