Dropped off a beach stone to have made into a custom necklace. They took notes on what I wanted and we selected a black cord and agreed on a black bail of antiqued silver. They said they'd call back in a week with a cost. Almost a month later, they called and gave me a price with cord and said it'd be ready on Friday. I stopped by at noon on Friday and they seemed surprised to see me. After they finally found my order, the jeweler hurried to begin applying antiquing to the bail. Meanwhile, they informed me that the cord was not included. I leave and return a short while later and then see the piece for the first time. All they've done is fashion an amorphous loop of silver bail to the stone. The bail is as thick as the stone itself and only slightly darkened with antiquing solution, some of which has rubbed off on the stone. I said, "It looks too beefy. I thought it'd be finer. I also thought it'd be darker to match the black cord." The jeweler comes by and says, "I'm not making it any finer. They've already spent more time on this than it's worth. I'll cut it off if you want." We discussed briefly during which time he explained how the bail had to be that thick to keep the stone from cutting through it. He reiterated his willingness to cut it off. I accepted his offer and when they returned the stone, I noticed it had even more antiquing solution rubbed off on it. The staff here are amazing! My husband and I have used JDS for the past 15 years and I have never had an issue or concern. Suzzanne is super sweet and very helpful. Everytime I am in she cleans and inspects my jewelry to make sure none of my diamonds or gemstones are loose. (free of charge!!) I don't care for designer brands and only do custom design which is why I come here. Juli does some amazing designs, they're spectacular! Way better than any designer brand that is marked up ridiculously. I have been to other jewelry stores in the area and none of them come close in comparison. My husband made the mistake of having his necklace fixed at another store in Stuart and they mangled it. I had to bring it to JDS to have them fix the repair job from the other shop.
