There are many religious teachings people believe to be true, but here is one selfevident truth. It is not possible for anything that says āYou cannot be free from sinā to be true, because Jesus said, āthe truth shall make you free.ā Therefore, everything that denies āfreedom from sinā is also counting Jesus to be a liar. Jesus spoke the words, āYou shall know the truth and the truth shall make you freeā to some Jewish people āwho believed upon him.ā John 8:31. Upon hearing this statement, they denied there was any need for them to be āmade freeā because they had never been slaves to anyone. They demanded Jesus explain what he meant by āYou shall be made free.ā His answer turned these ābelieversā into a mob of people who were ready to kill him.John8:37. Jesus told them that everyone who commits sin does it because they are sinās slave. John 8:34. Can you imagine the effect this statement had upon these Jews who had always heard that they were the special people of God? They had thought themselves to be above all others, but in their mind Jesusā words included them in the lowest group possible. He said they were slaves! Jesus then uses an illustration to drive home his point. He compares a religious sinner to a slave assigned to work in a great house. They may be in the house, but the house is not their home. When the slavesā work is done, they must leave. Only the ownerās children live in the house. The hour always comes when the slave is cast out of the house! A few verses earlier, Jesus had told the people āā¦if ye believe not that I am he (the Christ), ye shall die in your sins.ā John 8:24. As long as they were still sinners they were slaves; and as long as they refused to believe the truth, they would still be sinners. Having stripped them of all their supposed spirituality, Jesus then offers hope ā¦if they would receive it. He said āIf the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.ā John 8:36. This simple statement is the embodiment of āthe truth.ā His purpose for coming into the world has always been to āā¦save his people from their sin.ā...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've gone to this church once awhile ago and haven't been back because I simply didn't feel a connection and wasn't a fan of the pastor not being present to preach. That's not the reason for my low rating today though, as I understand that every church isn't for everyone. The reason for my low score today is due to the experience that I had as I was dropping a young lady off to attend service. I am not very familiar with the parking here as I stated previously, I had only been here once before but when I attempted to turn into the parking lot to drop off my passenger, one of the parking attendants was in the process of moving the cones to block me. This is understandable because he was simply doing his job/service. The real issue was when I rolled down my window to ask him a question and instead of having enough decency to let me get two words out of my mouth, he cut me off, turned his back to me, and shooed me off to the following entrance as he walked away. I understand the urgency of getting everyone in the lot and out of traffic, but what I don't understand is how anyone would come back if this were their first impression as they attempted to enter a house of God. First impressions start before you enter the doors and the only greeting appropriate is one of love, compassion, and understanding. I'm not saying he should have allowed me to enter... I'm saying that the WAY he turned me away was inappropriate, disrespectful and quite frankly hurtful. I truly hope that this is taken into consideration and doesn't happen to anyone else. May blessings...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been to the church twice and overall have liked my experience. It is a very welcoming place and you feel that the moment you walk in the door and are greeted. I like that flow of service and that it merges traditional church tradition with more modern ones. I really enjoy the services and Pastor West' sermons are thoughtful, challenging, and timely.
The only reason why I don't give 5 stars is because of the childcare for toddlers/pre-k. It seems very disorganized and the sign in isn't the most secure process (compared to the K-6 ministry). Also, the volunteers there don't greet you and the experience feels very different than the rest of the church. On both of my visits, parents have been turned away because teachers have not shown up. Thankfully, that has not happened to me, but I am wary that it might one day. I do hope that the toddler/pre-k ministry experience is improved because my daughter's experience is very important to me as I work to choose a church home. From my quick assessment, being an educator and consultant, their needs to be a better volunteer expectations; larger pool of volunteers and substitutes; and more secure & streamlined...
