The first and only time that I will ever go to Hays market, I felt like my business was unappreciated, unwanted, and to get pulled to the register from the produce section because they didn't want me in the store was embarrassing for me and my wife, especially when this is our first experience here. Was in town for work and simply stopped over to grab some lunch at the deli. I must say, the employees here are bold, they were extremely rude from the get-go, their customer service skills are completely non-existent. Didn't even acknowledge that me and my wife were standing there, though it would have taken 2 seconds to just simply say "we'll be right with you". Employees all around just seem uninterested and look like they hate their jobs. Despite, I stayed polite and kind, and kept a smile on my face, no use in letting other people ruin my happiness. While waiting for my wife's food to be heated up, I ate two fries out of the basket, making sure to leave the sticker alone so I can pay for it when my wife's food gets to us. I figured as most places I've experienced, you pay at the deli. I assumed wrong, but instead of a simple correction, the employee rudely told me I need to get up because the food is pay before consumption. Completely understandable and a mistake on my part, I didn't think it was a big deal that I ate two fries out of the whole basket while I waited 5 minutes for my wife's food. I apologized and closed it back up as we were heading out to pay anyways. I'm not even halfway through the produce section and another employee approaches me and my wife and pulls us over to the registers. I wasn't doing any more shopping, but if I was that is completely rude and disrespectful and made me feel like I was getting accused of stealing. That is not my intention, nor was it ever my intention, I'm not that kind of person. And especially over a deli meal? The first lady, though rude, could have just left it at letting me know to close up my food until I paid, but somehow felt the need to call for backup. In any case, I paid for my food and with a smile on my face, said "hope your day gets better, have a good day." And you could tell by the look on the clerk's face, they were disappointed that I actually was paying for my food. It's sad to see a group of employees targeting people for no reason. I'm not even an intimidating person, I'm only about 5'6 and 125 lb and I was nice and respectful to everybody even though they were completely rude and disrespectful to me. There was no reason for anybody to assume that I was there to steal. And if this is a common issue, my recommendation would be to either add a register to the back so you can actually pay for your food where you're getting it, or print out the barcodes for us to go pay for them before you hand us the food. Then you have solved the issue completely without having to ruin a customer's experience. I would never treat my own clients this way, and this experience is just a pitiful representation of the condition of the human mind in...
Read moreHmmm interesting how businesses can pay to have negative reviews that show the truth about a place removed. Let me put in my two cents here: I used to go to this market until I realized how very unprofessional and corrupt they are in dealing with their customers. As a person with a disabled parent who attempted to go shopping here with her and had her service dog treated like just another animal let me share this story. The management here is completely aweful and horrid and had let us know that our service dog was not allowed in the center because of whatever bs reason they could think of. After telling them it was indeed a service dog they illegally demanded to see papers showing that it is indeed a service animal. I called the store manager about the way his hag of an employee handled the situation and harassed us out of the building for having a service dog. He didn’t give two hoots and took her side. Will not be shopping here again as someone who strongly supports the Americans with disabilities act and as a military personnel who doesn’t support corrupt businesses I will not be shopping here again. On a side note bought some corn from them during the summer and it was infested with maggots due to having been left out in the fly infested container all day long. Disgusting will not ever shop here again. I have moved my business to King Soopers instead where service dogs are welcome....
Read moreStopped by Hays in Johnstown to grab a couple items. Went to the register to pay. Their was no barcode on the guacamole i grabbed so the cashier called to have it price checked a lady appeared less than 15 seconds later and said you probably dont want this its $16.00. Not sure how she got to and fro the back of the store to the front so fast. The price on the shelf said 6.99. I didnt argue. We also got a large jar of pickles and a few other items. When we checked out the cashier asked of we wanted a receipt i said yes but was not given one. Not the first time this has happened but didnt think ot would matter. When we got home my daughter wanted a pickle. When she bit into it she said it was disgusting. I tried the pickle and verified it was disgusting. I tried to return the pickles today. Its been 4 days. The same teleporting lady was at the service desk. She said since they were opened and i had no receipt she didnt know when we bought them. I asked how i was supposed to know they were bad unless i opened them. She said i cant do anything for you. This is the only time ive had a bad experience with Hays but its enough for me not to go back. I said id start shopping at Woods instead and she said good luck with that. Theres nothing worse than dealing with customer service people who look like they're miserable while at work and seem to thrive on telling...
