We did not visit the faciity, but we did purchase some of their smoked salmon when we were in Juneau in October, 2021. We got several small 4 oz boxes, planning on using some as a base for a smoked salmon dip or spread that we wanted to serve to guests over the holidays. The other day we decided to try it out and we were very disappointed. Of course 4 ounces is not going to give you a lot of salmon, but as I said, it was only going into a small batch of smoked salmon dip, served with crackers. By the time the skin was removed it was more like 3 ounces of smoked salmon. It was also a bit watery, which I did not expect. My husband and I have had a lot of smoked salmon, but never any that was this sweet. it was WAY too sweet for our taste, and we knew it would not pair well with the other ingredients in my dip recipe. I only smelled it and knew I wouldn't care for it. My husband had a couple bites of it, and the next day he was sick.    Read moreA friend of mine and I met some friends for a "guys trip" to Alaska in the summer of 2009. On our return, we stopped in Juneau to see the sights. We thought seriously about a fishing trip, but were unable to make that work. We really wanted to bring some Halibut and Salmon back to the lower 48 with us and were directed to the Alaska Seafood Company. What a great find this was! We secured what would probably be considered a small order. It was delicious. Vacuum packed and flash frozen right off the boat. In the years since, we have treated many friends to halibut and salmon and expanded our order to include a few more friends. We have also expanded our personal orders as we find ourselves running out each year and hate to let that happen the next year. The packets are usually 0.5lb to 1.25lb each and take about 10 minutes to thaw under running water in the sink.
