Update: 05/21/2025: We have now been here almost two and it’s not bad but it’s not exactly good either. There is no assigned parking, it’s first come first serve, but there are at least 5-6 unused or inoperable vehicles in front of my building that takes up spots for the elderly and handicap to use. The smoking of cigarettes and weed is excessive and I always smell it in my building (This is supposed to be a smoke free community). There have been break-ins and tires have been stolen off people’s cars in the time that we’ve been here and the breaks ins have been recent. (There use to be security but I don’t know what happened to it.) Packages get stolen frequently as well. The common area is totally dirt and dust because there is no playground area for children so the kids have trashed it and there is no grass. They just BARELY replaced and fixed machines in the gym but there is still equipment that still doesn’t work. You are charged trash valet, but the time they come and pick up trash is inconsistent and sometimes doesn’t get picked up so you end up throwing it out yourself anyway. Management is always changing landscape companies so grass and trees will sometimes get out of hand and looks unkept. Elevators are good still and if they do happen to go out, they are fixed quickly most of the time. Everyone stays to themselves and is kind for the most part but even if they weren’t, that’s not a complex problem. The apartments themselves are nice and all appliances are included but when you can’t ensure the safety of a community, it’s not worth paying the amount we pay every month to stay here.
We have been here a total of 3 1/2 months. We love the complex and environment. The appliances are great. Elevators are always working in my building. Everyone stays to themselves and minds their own business. Everyone is relevantly friendly and the schools nearby are great. The only gripe I have is the smoking. It’s suppose to be a smoke free environment and while I don’t have an issue with any kind of smoking, I DO NOT like when people are smoking and that seeps through my apartment. Now that the weather is cooler I will sometimes open the patio door, but not for long because whoever lives near me smoke’s weed and cigarettes and it trails into my apartment from the patio door. I wouldn’t be a gripe but this is pretty much almost every afternoon that this happens. I’ve even tried to open the door to air out the apartment at maybe a different time of the day so I don’t interfere with whatever my neighbors around me are doing and if it’s not weed it’s cigarettes. It just sucks cause we also like to sit out on the patio with our dog and have to come in because of the smoke.
Let me just say this whole touring and move in experience has been awesome. Sonora was great throughout this whole time and I am looking forward to living here! Even though our move in date was scheduled on a Sunday, they gave us thorough instructions on how to access everything and made sure we had all the information we needed to have a...

The amenities are great. The parking is plentiful. Neighbors are mostly nice. The location is excellent, with the caveat being that the complex is an island. That's what I called my apartment... "The Island." If you want to walk or bike anywhere, you have to take the unkempt grassy trail beside a major freeway. I wish there were a gate at the back of the complex to allow easy access to the actual trail (Barker Dam Trail).
I have dealt with strictly enforced towing complexes before, which are nightmarish to live in, and luckily this is not one of them.
I will say I have seen a ton of wheel theft. Management hasn't figured it out, but I think they are reasonably responsive. Other than that I haven't noticed much crime.
Now, the apartments themselves. They are new and designed well for apartment living. I had a one-bedroom, and though it honestly feels quite small, I think it is because everything inside is large. The tub, the sinks, the closet, etc., are a bit larger than you'd see in older apartments, which I like because I prefer that to more space. The other reason it feels small is just the layout. The quality is decent. For example, I love that the toilet has wooden seats instead of cheap plastic ones.
My main complaint with the apartment itself is the noise from other tenets above me and in the hallways where sound travels. And the fire alarms are very sensitive; I can't take something out of the oven without it going off (just the oven's heat alone triggers it). I love the open balconies on the first floor, I don't use my front door almost ever. And if I needed them, the elevators would be a big plus. Moving furniture down three flights of stairs is awful.
One major complaint is the management. Good luck getting the property management to help you with anything. They never answer calls, and the property manager is as unhelpful as they come. The maintenance staff are good though.
I will say that the amenities are top-notch, and the main reason I applied within hours of my tour. The resort-style pool is awesome. I'm glad I don't live next to it though. The resident lounge and cyber café are gorgeous and a fun place to come work from time to time. Bike storage is great although it is usually full and I somewhat doubt that half of the bikes in there are actually used. The gym is one of the best I have seen in an apartment complex. The trash chute rooms used to be bad but now they are spotless most of the time. There is a dog park and a grooming room which is cool, but I don't have a dog. The package locker room is perfect, although I haven't had any problems with porch pirates personally, I do prefer the locker room.
Lastly, the grounds are pretty well kept. Not perfect, but an effort is made to...

The problem isn't the staff or the actual office workers here, the problem is with THEIR management in Greystar. Today we noticed yet ANOTHER car with tires stolen. I think this has been at least 6 or 7 in a 6 month time frame that we know of. Greystar doesn't want to get security, or even basic cameras watching the parking lot to prevent this mass theft from occurring. On top of that, the 3rd party companies that Greystar hire don't seem to care about your safety. During their fire alarm tests, we were out of town and when we came back we noticed our door was just unlocked, and the 3rd party company hired didn't even lock up when they left! I honestly don't know if these issues will be fixed until the management above the Community Manager here (Annette and the girls, who again are very helpful) changes, as Greystar seems to not care about the residents and will do everything to save themselves money.
Update 1/3/22: The main issue we are facing is with security. If you look through the reviews you can see multiple reviews of cars without their tires. In my 10 years of living in apartments I have never seen this theft issue be so rampant. It feels like every week someone is getting their tires stolen and the management doesn’t want to put security cameras in the parking lot, because their current “on-site security” obviously isn’t deterring the thieves away. We apparently have security but I don’t see them all the time, which is weird because we were told they work from 10:00pm-6:00am. I've been seeing good reviews on the manager which is true she is extremely helpful with some problems we have had, though with the assistant manager I have not had good experiences at all.
Original: Living here has been quite an experience. The area and the amenities are good, but it feels like problems with the buildings are getting a bit out of control. First, a pipe broke inside the building causing maintenance to have to open up multiple walls to get the pipe fixed. Then, the roof in the hallway looks like it’s starting to come down now as well. Also, a few months ago there was something loose in the roofs causing loud slamming all night with heavy wind. The overall construction doesn’t seem that good, and on top of it there is a dog constantly barking in the 7th building. It has been almost 2 months since bringing this up to the management here, but the problem still continues. The dog will be barking or howling almost every day and night, and always past the “quiet hours”. On the weekend it even is still barking past midnight. We’ve brought this issue up multiple times with the staff, but no results have come of...
