The crew and community at Kangaroo Tales is nothing like Iāve experienced before. I pop into the store typically once a month for maybe an hour or two to pick up a few cards and they donāt just make me feel welcome, they make me feel like family. Every team member remembers my name, everyone is extremely helpful, and they have done right by me every time when I had cards to trade in and sell.
On a personal note, I need to share an experience that truly solidified Kangaroo Tales as my go to place. Often times the crew has food in the store usually to Support a local business. In the heat of crawfish season, they had a giant cooler of crawfish and a big crowd of people looking to eat, play, and shop. After learning that I have a deathly seafood allergy, the staff immediately notified everyone that if they were going to eat, they either had to eat outside or eat on the other side of the store away from the shopping area where I would be. They insisted that everybody washed their hands and used hand sanitizer thoroughly after eating and throwing away their food. Multiple times they wiped down the tables, and every staff member that was handling the shopping area either waited until I was finished shopping to eat or wash their hands multiple times before touching any boxes. This seems like a small gesture, but itās huge. Iām just one customer but they made me feel like THE customer. They couldāve asked me to leave rather than inconveniencing the entire community but instead they chose to look out for me. Thatās not something Iām ever going to forget.
Now, if you didnāt already know that this is the place to go for all your collectible needs, Iād like to specifically recognize some of the team below. That way, when you show up, you know exactly who youāre going to meet.
Kevin is knowledgeable, high energy, and thoughtful. He asks about my business, Family, and is always looking to talk Shop about new Game strategies.
Sean and Shaun always have a smile on their faces. they work hard, but they have fun while doing it. They are happy to help and make suggestions when you need them and they are a joy to be around.
Jr is a pro at helping you find what you need. He has never led me in the wrong direction. He even remembered one time that my daughter was sick and asked about how she was feeling. You canāt teach those little things. When you work with the right people, they just have those little things.
Damon is always excited to see you. He comes over and shakes my hand and takes the time to catch up with me.
Kane went above and beyond for me, looking for pricing on an interesting trade that I had brought in. He took time to do research and made me a reasonable offer. Other shops wouldāve tried to rip me off, he did the work to do the right thing.
Dennis, One of the owners is truly impressive. What he and his business partners have built in my personal opinion is one of a kind. As a business owner myself, I respect the way that he respects and loves his people. I respect the way that he respects and loves the community that they have and Iām grateful to be a part of it.

On the other hand, the other employee, curly hair guy that works the register is probably one of the rudest employees Iāve encountered in my 15+ years in the TCG industry. He was very rude when I asked to see binders and heād respond āthat doesnāt mean anything to meā with a very rude backhanded response. When I asked about their discounts he rudely responded āwell did you check our discord?ā And when I replied no. He said āwell then you shouldā. Instead of trying to promote their deals, he couldāve just stated āthese are our deals for todayā Then when I asked to see the binders he was just too comfortable responding in a rudely manner. Then other friends of mine didnāt get discounts because the employee forgot to give it, then when they asked about it, he gave a āwell itās ur fault you didnāt askā and gave off very scammer behavior. Instead of making the costumers feel welcomed and greeting them, He huffs and puffs when you ask to see a binder. This is your job, if you donāt like it then go work somewhere else. But yeah I was going to spend +$100 but that employee deterred me and my friends from further buying products from them. Honestly one of the worst experiences Iāve had in card shops. ALSO the curly headed guy with long hair definitely talks to costumers as less than rather than : āwelcome to our store, can I help with anything?ā But that man says āwhat do you want?ā or āthat doesnāt mean anything to meā when asking questions instead of responding with āIām not quite sure what you meanā or ācould you please elaborateā. Definitely wonāt be coming back and they can keep whatever store credit I have left. Overall that one employee needs to be checked or it will deter people from returning or worse, he will get checked. But the one good thing is that they have a wide verity of cards. Itās just the service that gives me the ick.
Edit: the owner attacked my review citing that I didnāt contact them therefore I must be a coward for not dealing with them. Another example of unprofessionalism. The store was amazing, the only complaint was the white guys with long hair behind the counter also known as āthe comedianā on other negative reviews. I can tell that nothing has changed and that Iād only waste my time just to try to contact them. Clearly they havenāt fixed the issue I complained about months ago but thatās what reviews are for. And I have had MULTIPLE people tell me the same thing about the same employee and his ājokesā. The appropriate response would be āsorry for the experience weāll discuss with our employees about how to effectively communicate with costumers without offending themā not an attack...

My son and I came in with a PokĆ©mon collection, ready to make some trades. From the very start, the staff treated us with respect and fairness we got more than a fair price for what we brought in, and instead of just rushing us out the door, they took the time to engage, educate, and guide us through something brand new. Shawn, Kevin, and Alex were all incredible. Despite being super busy and swamped, they still made us feel like we were the only customers in the room. They answered every single question not just mine but my sonās as well with patience and excitement, and that made all the difference.
Iām brand new to Magic: The Gathering, and walking into a card shop for the first time can be intimidating. But the team at Kangaroo Tales made it feel like home. They didnāt just sell us cards they asked deep questions about what kind of play style we liked, what personalities we had, and what would make the game fun for us. Based on that, they built recommendations for us, and we walked out with Commander decks that fit us perfectly. That kind of personal attention is rare, and it shows how much they care about creating lasting players, not just quick sales.
When we got home, we cracked open those decks and played. What started as āletās just try a few gamesā turned into a marathon session from 8:40ish p.m. all the way to 7 a.m. the next day. No sleep, a couple boxes of Little Caesars later, and we were still going strong. Thatās how much fun we had. Thatās how perfectly their recommendations matched our playstyles. It wasnāt just about the cards it was about the experience, the bond, and the feeling of belonging to something bigger.
For me and my sons, Kangaroo Tales Collectibles isnāt just a shop itās now our home store, from now until the end of time. The staffās energy, the welcoming atmosphere, and the way they set us up for success in a new hobby made all the difference.
