This is a purchase that needs to be well thought out before buying.
We all dream of having a pool like at a resort where loungers lay partially in the water and sun giving you the best of both worlds. So, why would you not want it on your own splash pad in your backyard, right? Well, keep reading.
Things to consider: Location Pool depth Pool size Lifestyle
We are located in Canada where you get four good months a year for pool weather. Because of that, a solar blanket is required to maintain pool temperature. Having a solar blanket dragged over ledge loungers in an effort to keep your pool water warm isn't ideal nor an effective use of resources.
When speaking to Shanna and Melissa on the phone (who are marvelous, btw) they recognize what you need by asking just a few questions. The depth of my splash pad is 11 inches so Shanna knew right away I needed risers otherwise they would float. Well, even entirely full, sitting on risers, the front ends still floated. The center table we ordered that also housed the expensive umbrella (It's all expensive, btw. Highly overpriced) had a hole cut too big in the top and the umbrella would often tilt even without a breeze making it quite the pain and cheap looking.
If you have a small-sized pool with a splash pad, I highly suggest not getting Ledge Loungers. Although, aesthetically pleasing, they will take up much room and make your pool seem small.
Are you the type that likes to entertain guests throughout your pool season? Again, these will take up a lot of room and you will find that people will try them out but be quickly bored of them, including the owners, and there they will sit, obstacles in the way.
Just move them out of the way you ask? In theory, that sounds easy but when filled completely with water, a Ledge Lounger weighs 170Ibs. Easier said than done.
We used them for one season and then lent them to neighbours, who were very excited to try them out until they tried them out. Their family dynamic, which was totally different than ours involving kids playing made them impractical to have in their pool as well.
I was told they were easy to keep clean but yellowish stains were forming on them which were not easy to get off. It says simple soap and water, but it's not that simple.
The cost, all in, was $3760 CDN when you factor in duty and conversion from USD to CAD. And there is no flexibility on their part even when they shipped them with improper customs documents causing them to be returned to the factory and creating a month delay. They wouldn't credit you anything nor would they be flexible on the $1000 umbrella I purchased after the fact. Yes, $1000!
They have a policy where if you are not pleased with your product you can return them 30 days from purchase. Guess what? These are made to order. They don't get made unless your purchase them and they tell you six to eight weeks for delivery from time of purchase. You can do the math. So, there moneyback guarantee is absolutely useless.
These are the things to consider when ordering Ledge Loungers for your pool. I hope this helps.
I have since sold my Ledge Loungers to a family that has a shallow splash pad and large pool. I made sure they were the right customer for this product because I didn't want them experiencing regret like I did. And they got a heck of a good price because I wanted to be rid of them so badly.
Two-star rating because I did value the customer service regardless of the shipping faux pas, but the product? Well, I think you...
Read moreUpdate I'm changing my review to 4 starts as I was able to gain the appropriate audience and they did, in fact, repair my chair. They came to my house and retrieved the product (granted I'm in the neighborhood next to their warehouse, I wouldn't expect this if you live further away), repaired it quickly and returned the product to my house. Due to this, they deserve more than 3 stars. I can't allow myself to give 5 stars because it was a HUGE hassle getting to a resolution. Also, I have been advised the loungers have a 3 year warranty and to reach out if I'm unhappy with the fading.
Original review: We purchased several outdoor pieces from ledge lounger, spending a little over $5k, and we have issues with 3 of the pieces. Due to a delay in our pool building the items were in boxes in our garage for 8 months. Upon assembling the Aderondack rocker it had a manufacturer defect and is unusable. Due to busy lives I didn’t reach out to them until a month ago and they refuse to replace the item due to the purchase date. I would expect a company that charges $1k/chair to stand by their product.
Also if you purchase the Loungers in any of The “fun” colors - we bought coral, they will fade. CS tried to convince me it was calcium buildup but I don’t have the same issues with the grey. Again, they won’t do...
Read moreWe just moved into our new construction home with our new pool and needed pool furniture to complete our outdoor vision. Ledge Lounger had great reviews and we liked the aesthetics of the products as well and ordered from them. We purchased 2 Ledge Lounger Chaises and shortly after placing our order, I received a call from a rep at the company, Catherine. She wanted to verify my order and ensure that I had ordered the correct products for the depth of our tanning ledge. She was undoubtedly the most friendly and helpful rep I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with with any company. She answered other questions I had about the fabrics for accessories, sent fabric samples to help us choose, and made it clear that she was available to help with anything we may need in the future or to answer any questions we had. Once we had our fabric samples in hand, we were able to make decisions about accessories we wanted (shades, pillows, etc.). I was able to call Catherine directly, pick her brain about two different tables we were deciding between and she was able to place our large order over the phone. It was a seamless process and I will definitely be ordering from Catherine and Ledge...
