The employees need to get on the same page.
I had 2 pork bellies I wanted to be made into bacon. I called Haen's meat. Asked the young man on the phone if they would do that. He checked with someone and came back and said yes they would. So I brought the pork bellies into Haen's and I was told at the counter that they can't do that by an older gentleman. Also a young man checked and came back and said that they could not.
So I called The Meat Block and a young lady didn't know. She took a message and said the manager would call me back. Low and behold she did call back and said they could do that for me. I brought them into the Meat Block and a nice young lady helped me. She asked me if l wanted to pick the bacon up there or at Kaukauna? I told her Kaukauna would not do it. She was confused because she said they will send it to Kaukauna to get processed. So I'm really confused about Hean's Meat. First saying they will process the bacon, then not and then The Meat Block will sent to Haen's Meat to get processed.
I'm sorry, but all the employee's need to all be informed of the businesses policies so customers don't do a lot of running around for nothing and confusing...
Read moreVery disappointing changes since me owners. The biggest one for me is the hot sticks. I been told from insiders that they changed the recipe. It's obvious since it no longer needs to be refrigerated. Obviously, more preservatives only to be greedy. It was not for better taste, quality, or health reasons.
Response to owner:
My insider source is very credible, but that's besides the point. By "changing the process a little bit," I'm guessing you mean by adding sodium or salt that pulls moisture out of the product...aka, preservatives. The only reason this would be a benefit with hot sticks that were already perfect is to make them shelf ready. Why would any buyer care if it's shelf ready? The greed reason is because you have an easier time getting shelf space at local grocery stores and had stations. Refrigerator space is very difficult to obtain in these places and expensive. Therefore, you changed the recipe to get cheaper space and stores you weren't able to before. The point is, the change made the flavor...
Read moreHaen's is the only place I will take my venison to have sausage and sticks made. They may be a little more expensive but not by much but you get what you pay for and Haen's is well worth the extra cost. They have a pretty quick turnaround for getting your product back. The store is really clean and orderly and most employees are very helpful and friendly. You can tell a good quality place by their appearance and by how busy they always are. I had Cedar Creek years ago and they weren't very good. My daughter got some sausage from a friend that was venison made from Beck's and it was ok but didn't compare to Haen's. I also like the fact that you can bring in as little as 5 pounds of meat per product that your having made. Other places are a 10 pound minimum. I also like the fact that you get 1 pound sticks of sausage back where others are 2 pound sticks so if you don't eat up the bigger sticks fast enough it goes to waste. We highly...
