Update: So, I gave birth at this hospital again in May of 2025, not because I wanted to give to give them another try but because the doctor I had only delivered there… so I said what’s the odds that I’ll have two bad experiences in a row!? I mean come on Baptist use to be the hospital you would pass two other hospitals to get to in an emergency! Boy was I proven wrong! You CAN have 2 bad experiences in a row at a hospital. I won’t make this update to long but there was a nurse that was so terrible she put all her beliefs on me and tried to instill fear, not giving me the opportunity to say NO but saying things like “you need to, you have to” I was counting down until shift change!!! Another nurse was arguing with my doula about the cub chair (there were only 3 in the entire hospital, 1 out of commission and me and another room were using the other two) because I needed it to give birth on hands and knees because of getting an epidural and she’s literally going back and forth with my doula saying I don’t need it and I’m not using now and she’ll bring it back and it’s like taking from me and giving it to someone else isn’t fair to either side because you’re saying your going to eventually take it from her and give it back to me… terrible. And then to make matters worse after being in labor almost 72 hours hand expressing to bring on contractions I ended up pumping 3 syringes of colostrum and a nurse said she would freeze it for me since we were continuously having to add more ice to the cup it was in and second shift starts and another nurse comes in and tells me that it’s been sitting out on a desk for 12 hours and it’s no good…
Man! Where do I start?! Please read and rethink choosing this hospital! The entire staff is terrible! When I tell you I had the worst experience! I had the worst experience! I’ve never been treated so badly by hospital staff ever in my life! I told the nurses several times I was allergic to Motrin and was still given Motrin. Even once I was discharged the prescription for pain meds they gave me was ibuprofen (which is motrin) I’m having an allergic reaction while I’m writing this review. Not only did the staff neglect us, but the neonatologist over all the newborns told me and I quote “I have more important babies in the NICU to take care of”. Not only were me and my newborn neglected we were mistreated. I literally put in my food order 3 times for the same meal and still there was no record I ordered food. At this hospital is when I learned that you have nurses and doctors that do it for the money and you have some that do it because that’s what they loved to do! The nurses station was where I learned that not only do the nurses mistreat your newborn and don’t handle them with care (which is why I wouldn’t allow them to take my child from my room with out me) but some of them like to sit around and complain and talk about the patients they take care of. The rooms are literally falling apart, the bathrooms aren’t cleaned properly and the rooms are terribly small. I didn’t have time to do my research on this hospital because I was already 8-9 centimeters when I arrived but I wish I would’ve. The nurses in triage are so insensitive and they really do mistreat you. The worst part about Baptist is the newborn care which is why I had to make the decision to discontinue care with them and take my child to another doctor that would actually provide the attention and care that was needed (which they tried to call social services on me for doing so. They even discharged me and kept my child even though the pediatrician said that he was discharging her and made me pay $85 to stay with my child which I had to because I wasn’t going to leave my baby when I was solely breastfeeding. They wouldn’t discharge my baby with out speaking to social services) Baptist use to be the best hospital in south Florida and now it’s become the worst. I’m not sure what happened but if you have the privilege of choosing a hospital for care rethink choosing this one. BY FAR THE WORST EXPERIENCE AT A...
Read moreI want to preface this with I’ve been suffering with gastrointestinal issues for 8 years. I came in for pilonidal cyst and received medication that didn’t mix well with me. I went back the following day because I had been vomiting and nauseous and was going through extreme pain in my abdomen (very similar to the pain I experience when going through a gastro flare up) . Upon arrival my immediate nurses and doctors were friendly and nice (hence the 2 stars because it would’ve been zero had it not been for them) they were vocal about the medication they were administering and even tried to help subside the pain. However when the next shift started the doctors became very dismissive with my issue because I smoke cannabis. They refused to give me pain medication and instead gave me a series of stomach medication for gerd and when that didn’t work they gave me a sedative because they were tired of hearing me crying pain but refused to relieve the pain. They all came to the assumption that my cannabis usage was the cause to my pain and nausea. I informed them that it had been a week since I’ve used any cannabis and that the pain I was feeling was similar to my flare up pains. They proceeded to blame it on my cannabis usage because my cat scans showed up normal. I then proceeded to inform them that this has happened several times before, when I’m just beginning a flare up the cat scans don’t detect it and then I’m sent home and a week later I return because I’m not able to eat or drink water and am constantly throwing up the saliva I swallow. To which the doctor replied again that it’s my cannabis usage. I attempted to inform the doctor that cannabis has actually helped mute my nausea and pain and I’ve been using it for years to help aide me through my days of pain to which my doctor responded with a wide eyed expression and said “well cannabis tends to make people nauseous”. So if you smoke cannabis don’t expect much help in this hospital because they’re going to jump to a conclusion that you’re a druggie and you’re there for a high not because you’re sick. I was even bleeding from my belly button and they still just assumed the cause was cannabis. (Down below is picture of the pus and blood that was oozing from my belly button onto the...
Read moreWhat has happened to our neighborhood hospital? I am 65 years old and have been coming to Baptist Kendall since I was in 9th grade. Back then it was a small but wonderful hospital and they treated me a 16 year old who cut his hand at South Miami Jr High. The have me care. Iin later years I was cared for and in 2016 had surgery for an inigual hernia and a mesh placed, but a couple of months ago it failed and I was in immense pain and went to ER and met Dr. Sanchez, all my good experiences thru the years were soiled by this Dr. His care was rushed, robotic and without emotion or concerned, when he talked to be he would stop and check his phone personal calls it appeared and rushed me thru the process. He confimered the hernia inigual injury but said it was not life threatening and I should leave and call some surgeon. I told him I could barely walk and in constant pain, it was clear he could care less and it seemed that since now I'm retired my medicare humana could be billed like my previous insurance so it seemed. Poor explanation, no care and I was discarded in immense pain. A month passed by the I saw my primary, approved and scheduled, during this time I suffered constant pain. Dr Sanchez said it was not life threatening so he would do nothing, hmmm that little boy need a couple of stitches not life threatening but the Dr then cared for me. Since then I had another doctor and another hospitals perform surgery on me for a second mesh and it has gone well. So I will no longer go to baptist and will continue to share the aweful expert with family and friends. So what happened? Seems not profit driven not care drive. Shame on ER Dr. Sanchez for breaking his Hippocratic oathe and sending off in immense paid for...
