I would not recommend Gateway to anyone at this point.
The school has zero compassion for it's students.
I was registered for Fall classes in 2023, and had to drop out after two weeks, as I was having catastrophic vehicle problems and could not make it to classes, as well as going to work full time. I dropped the classes and thought nothing more of it, as I had not even attended a single class on my schedule for that first couple weeks.
Cut to me getting a letter in the mail saying I owe the school $600+, and as someone who lives paycheck to paycheck already, I can't afford the extra payments. I contacted the school and explained the situation to my student finance specialist to see if there was any way to have this waived due to financial hardship, and was told there was absolutely nothing they could do.
I know $600 is not a lot to Gateway but that out of pocket for me is not something I can just take the hit on.
I have emailed the President of the school and that was pushed off to an executive director, which that email chain has been going for over a month, and I have been able to get zero help other than to apply for scholarships next semester.
I am extremely disheartened, and I understand this is the only option for a lot of folks looking to further their education but the way I feel this situation has been handled I cannot recommend this school to anyone...
Read moreYou don't get help on anything from an advisor or support and if you get ahold of an advisor they rush you as if they have better things to be doing, when you were referred to them. They recycle assignments from other courses in the previous term and make you do them again. You aren't giving any accommodation or consideration if you fall behind, you will just fail unless you manage to catch up. Many of the faculty aren't helpful and just rude, you won't get questions answered. I emailed Gateway countless times about a balance I wasn't supposed to be responsible for due to external funding and they kept changing the balance amount for months like they were just trying to get money out of me. The people funding my education were shocked because they didn't know Gateway was doing this....
Read moreThe school itself is okay, the bookstore however is a nightmare. Would be in the school’s best interest to hire new employees. Ordered textbooks months ago, after waiting quite a while, I contacted the bookstore, the bookstore said my books were being shipped (because of covid). Okay, cool. Except they were never shipped, and continued to sit at the bookstore, until my professor was able to get be back in contact with them and that’s when they told me the books were still at the bookstore waiting to be picked up. Have had to go through classes for a week and a half with no textbooks because of their error. Horrible, HORRIBLE customer service. If you can, get your books somewhere else, and shipped by another company. E-follett and the bookstore is a NIGHTMARE to deal with. Save...
