Gateway Cafe — Restaurant in Kenosha

Went there the other day with my girlfriend. Took the server almost 20 minutes to get to us she was busy talking to others, the buser actually had to go get her after getting us refills on our drinks. Our food was not only wrong but cold once it got to us after we waited nearly an hour to get it after placing the order and based off the fact the plates were warm and the food was dry I can only assume it sat under the heat lamp for awhile before the server finally went back to check (we watched as she sat around talking to people for 10 to 20 minutes before going into the kitchen). When she finally brought out our food she simply dropped it off and went back to socializing. After another half hour or so the buser could see we were done and for a second time went and got the server. She could see we didn't touch our food and asked if we needed boxes we said no and voiced our concerns she left and we watched as she went and spoke with the manager he looked over at us and back at her and shrugged his shoulders. She came back with our bill a few minutes later with the food discounted. We were not looking for a free meal or a discounted meal. We have been coming here a couple times a month for the last few years since moving to Kenosha and that was definitely our last time. The new manager obviously doesn't care and the servers are horrible now. When the highlight of the visit is a teenage buser there is a huge problem. When the owner is there service is excellent but when he is not there it's awful. We saw on facebook a few weeks ago they needed a new manager if the owner sees this you might want to consider putting that ad back up otherwise your business will suffer under the new management when you...

My wife and I just came back from lunch there (07/10) and we have never been so disappointed. I’m mostly going to talk about the service because the food was okay. Gyros were dry and chicken breast was oddly seasoned, but the soup and mozzarella sticks were good.

We had a brunette waitress that had to be around her late twenties, early thirties and she was rude. And it sucks to see a lot of other people having similar issues with wait staff there as well. We were greeted by this lady at the front and she gave my wife and I a weird look and looked us up and down then sat us down.

We were originally going to have an older blonde lady serve us as she took our order for drinks but then the brunette waitress that “greeted” us at the front took over without any explanation and proceeded to take our order. The blonde waitress wasn’t even leaving, she was serving other tables behind us. But we overheard the brunette yelling at someone else saying “I got C, C is mine”, aggressively indicating her cluster of tables. Every plate she delivered to the table she practically threw down, and spilled some of my soup out of the bowl in the process. And whenever she went to check on us she always turned away from me to ask my wife if there was anything she needed and never looked at me even when I asked for more water by the end of our lunch.

We don’t usually get this kind of service and I’m sure if we had our original server, things would’ve been a little more pleasant I would hope, and I know I hope this was an isolated incident; HOWEVER, considering other people have been there in the past year and have similar complaints, I’m reluctant to return, no matter how good their soup...

Just left here a few hours ago and my family and I were treated very rudely. Hair in the shakes that my kids ordered. No apologies and no replaced drinks or even an offer of one. The waitress accepted no accountability for the hair in the drinks and the manager was the rudest. She did not greet us as we walked in and actually seemed annoyed to see an African-American family come in. We were disrespected and treated like scum and to top it off, although we caused no issues, when my fiance' asked to speak to the manager in regards to the undercooked food, she proceeded to call the police as if we were posing some kind of a threat to her. I overheard her making the call as I was walking out to warm my truck up and then she proceeded to come over to the table to address the issue very disrespectfully. I just told my fiance' to pay for the food and let her know that we would never be back because we had never been treated so poorly. The only person that was nice was the buss boy. We will never eat here again. They are rude, disrespectful, and seemingly racist. I felt racially discriminated against because to go as far as calling the police because someone has a concern and before you even address it, you're on the phone to make sure is ridiculous.
