Bad experience! I'm not a complainer but this was not fair considering the total price our group paid and the expectation we had from all the great reviews. There were five essential components that were missing from the room which wasn't even its own locked room. It was the back half of the lobby/check-in counter room. We kept having to ask for hints only to find out there was another piece missing, meaning it would've been impossible to solve. We were only told (after we paid and signed waivers) that a pair of glasses were missing that were needed to read the computer screen, and to let them know when we got to that point so they could tell us what it says. There were several other things missing though and we were not made aware until we were at a point where we needed it and had to ask for a hint. My sister scheduled us all to go do this for her husband and son's birthdays. I feel bad that it was such a disappointment. The staff totally understood our disappointment too, but wouldn't refund even part of our money. They only gave us a coupon for 20% off our next visit. How is a coupon to spend more money any consolation? My reviews were nothing but factual of what happened. It seems there is always some excuse for the business not reconciling with the $180 paying customer. I hope it is a learning experience for The Ville too to plan for how to handle when something like this happens other than delaying communication and getting offended by honest reviews that aren't what they want to hear and using it as the excuse for breaking communication and not...
Read moreI was so excited for my first escape room from what my aunt shared about her epic experience at Breakout in AL. When we were done overpaying and signed our waivers, the staff told us the escape room was the room we were in which was the lobby. We weren’t actually locked in so they told us to just “use our imagination”. Ok, fine. No big deal. We were doing alright and got to a point when we requested a hint only to find out from staff that there were missing essential components that they explained through and told us to just “use our imagination”. Before it was over, there were altogether 5 key features missing that kept halting our progress. When it was all over we just stared awkwardly at one another with zero excitement or sense of accomplishment. There were multiple clues that were inaccessible making this the ultimate escape room challenge, not because of difficulty but sheer impossibility. We went back inside after leaving to offer honest customer input and received only understanding sympathy (“yeah it really sucks right now because we just moved location 3 days ago so a lot got lost on the move”) and a handwritten sticky note for 20% of our next visit which...
Read moreOverall a very disappointing and anti-climactic experience. The escape room wasn't ready to solve. They had just moved to a new location. After we paid, she told us that there was one piece missing and which piece it was. However, as we tried to progress through the room, we'd reach a dead end and ask for help, only to be told that this or that was also missing/not working. This happened 4 times. Essentially, in the state it was, this room was unsolvable. It seemed like the room hadn't been tested or run through after the move and maybe that's why all 5 of the missing/nonworking pieces weren't disclosed to us before we paid and started. We tried to get a full refund or complimentary shot at another room to regain confidence in the place, but were only offered 20% discount at next visit. I don't trust the business to lose any more money, however, so we won't be revisiting...
