Daniel Jennewein—My Hero!
After giving myself eight months to recover from two foot surgeries, I thought I was ready to jump back into my old routines. Boy, was I wrong! I was in denial about how much muscle and strength I had lost. I ended up hurting myself and began experiencing sciatic nerve issues down both legs, which caused me to collapse when the nerves flared up at the same time.
Desperate, I called Daniel, who had helped me with my initial foot PT in July. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to fit me into his packed schedule during Thanksgiving week, but based on my description of the pain, he suggested some stretches and exercises over the phone.
I took his advice into consideration, but I needed immediate assistance. I turned to InMotion Stretch Therapy, where the trainers were great—they provided some relief and suggested solutions during my twice-weekly visits as part of my six-month membership.
After the holidays, I added chiropractor visits, but I wasn’t experiencing real recovery. To the chiropractor’s credit, he suggested I return to physical therapy before continuing chiropractic treatments. I needed guided strength training and stretching to reduce inflammation in my vertebrae. So, I called the Kirkwood SSM Health office. Daniel’s initial suggestions over the phone in November were spot on. Now in February, he reassessed my condition and struggles in person and added more exercises to my routine. I have great appreciation for all professionals who have studied, understand, and can help improve the function of my body.
After six appointments with Daniel, my sciatic nerve shocks are now very rare. I feel stronger and have a regimen from Daniel to support my recovery as I work toward becoming active again. Ugh! Eight months is WAY TOO LONG to be sedentary! I am 54 years old—too young to give up.
Thank you, Daniel! I’m keeping your number in...
Read moreI have been treated for post concussion syndrome since September. The process of dealing with this, which was due to a MVA in August has been life-altering. The brightest part of my week has been going to the SSM Kirkwood PT location. This is not hyperbole. I have had some dark moments physically and psychologically while trying to recover. The demeanors of my two therapists, Andrea and Lisa have been nothing short of a consolation. Man is comprised of body and soul and the control takes place ostensibly in our brain. When it does not work correctly, it is alienating. Both of these physical therapists really worked to ease my fears (not easy at 6'2" and 280 lbs.)-- yes I was afraid, but have slowly, with Andrea's help especially come to realize that the brain is more in control than we know and when it doesn't work correctly, you are not crazy, you're just a bit broken. I would recommend Andrea and Lisa to anyone in need of physical therapy and particularly Andrea for cognitive therapy. God bless...
Read moreBEWARE of cost. SSM is not up front about helping you ascertain what you will owe after insurance. I was told $20 Copay per visit (2x's per week) and after 2+ MONTHS of appointments I received a bill and they were charging over $465.00 PER HOUR and my insurance didn't even have a $20 Copay and I owed almost $200 PER VISIT. A terrible financial burden just trying to learn to walk again. While the therapist was sweet, the equipment and space is far from state of the art, and in no way justifies this inflated billing price and lack of assistance with relaying insurance coverage for people who are injured, stressed, worried, and scared of their injury/disabilities. leaving them vulnerable to...
