The Texas Quilt Museum — Local services in La Grange

Very very beautiful quilts and display of quilts with the stories behind the quilts made. The 'No Photography' rule is dumb and definitely not followed by me or anyone else, as you can see by others pictures posted. The only reason someone would want to go is for the pictures to show off the beautiful quilts and tell the story behind them. Only museum I have been to that says no photography. I didn't follow the rules because I wanted a useable hard copy memory of my trip w my family. don't waste your time. the lady at the front desk is a sweetheart. the lady in the office however is a shrew. visited last week. wallhangings on display do not reflect quilting heritage at all. they are current modern wall hangings. they showcase 4 different artists a year. I didn't even go thru it. If I can't see quilted quilts from a featured QUILTER , forget it. I can see that modern thread painting crap at the international show in houston. This was a revelation and a wonderful artistic experience! They have numerous quilts, some up to a hundred and fifty years old or more... Very interesting and beautiful. The variety and incredible craftsmanship is breathtaking. Also, they have a small but charming gift shop and helpful docents on staff. There is an admission charge, and you are asked not to use your camera. There are clean restrooms on site. If you have an interest in art, American folk heritage, or just skill and beauty... You should stop in to this Hidden Gem. Next door is a lovely garden area and ample street...
