This place is close to my house and I've been a nerd so long when I was in school you'd be ostracized for it. So my Fiance and I were thrilled when we moved to Lacey and saw how convenient this will be. Good: I've been there 5 or 6 times and I will say that about 80% of the time they had what I wanted. Bad: there is ALWAYS a dog. I like dogs, but they don't smell great in a business and there's never an owner near the animals to control them. This place is tiny and the dogs are big and are just laying walking stretching etc. In the walking aisles. The owner comes across as arrogant and has an abrasive personality in general so if you have to deal with him good luck. Hope you don't have any genuine questions because he will try and make you feel like an idiot for asking them. The "community" they have cultivated is exactly what you'd expect from a mini war gaming and trading card game crowd. When there's a lot of people in there the smell is eye watering and if you have a female partner/ friend who is remotely attractive prepare to have her overtly ogled and objectified. If she can stay at home that would probably be better if there's gonna be a lot of regulars there. Finally the other day I had saved up money for a model I wanted and it's not exactly new and again this is close to me so I called to ensure they had it, went over multiple times clarifying what I wanted and was assured it was there. Well after I get there I don't see it and ask for help. The gentleman goes to grab something that isn't what I asked for and after pointing that out to him he calls his manager and tells me "it might be at his house"......like that's something totally understandable and reasonable for product to be in someone's bath tub in their own personal home. I told him not to worry about it I would just drive an extra 20 minutes and go to the larger nicer better supplied store that doesn't have the problems this store had. I then get an incredulous look from the employee and he tells me "what, but he lives close, he might be able to being it here. You can wait." I told him no and shaking my head and kind of chuckling to myself in disbelief that I had to explain why I didn't want to support the business who wouldn't physically check to see if they have an item in a space so small and "jk its at this guys house who might be able to bring it" I went down the street to the much nicer place and had an excellent experience like I always do. In summary: sometimes they have what you want, but there's no point in calling because they might tell you they have it and its actually just in some dudes house somewhere. If you have a female SO don't bring her and hopefully you aren't afraid of dogs or are put off by arrogance and the powerful smell of...
Read moreOverall, you need to be very liberal politically and support others delusions at large.
They’ve got a good community and awesome doggos that go around, but others can talk about left wing politics and even fear mongering, or deliberately share misinformation because they don’t know fact from fiction.
Just talking about painting they don’t seem to understand the differences between a wet palette and dry palette and say it’s a matter of art for common industry equipment.
Honestly, any liberals you piss off will lead to excommunication. So be aware that this place is very politically driven. I’d go north to Tacoma or south to Olympic or even Dapper if you’re willing to bring your own terrain.
Too much politics, explaining to liberals the fact the Navy alone could level Los Angeles with a single ship didn’t go well when someone else had stated it’s a start of an apocalypse because Marines fired warning shots.
This doesn’t include the mental butt hurt so many get when you explain why their paint becomes like chalk, they get offended very easily if anything outside of delusions of left wing ideologies are ever talked about.
So do be aware of this hanging out there, if you’re not left wing you won’t be welcome.
EDIT
What they mean by factual, is fantasy land, I.e. you correct someone on a dry rush palette vs wet palette, and you just stepped on an ant hill.
I literally have been attacked just for telling another person who paints minis they could charge more if they wanted to after they criticized me for my own commission prices.
List goes on.
Second EDIT
I don’t think the one on the discord who said it was a warning sign of armaghetten works for Paradox, they are just a community member I think?
My responses to them in discord was just pointing out that if US Marines in LA meant harm, there’d be harm. U.S. Marines aren’t robots. I know my pro-Military comments rubbed some liberals wrong, but I don’t think that Peace meant anything against the military when he said that, and I don’t think he’s Paradox staff, he’s just a chill guy who like others have differing opinions which is ok.
What I have issue with myself, is that it’s a liberal haven where people have stake in the community just because of who they are friends with, and opposing views are not carefully considered at all. In fact opposing view even if it can easily be googled, is met with extreme hostilities.
Third Edit: What Paradox is meaning by values, is anything heavily liberal or supports delusions. Just clarifying that as I was literally attacked over discord in the past by agreeing someone could absolutely charge market pricing...
Read moreI have been coming to paradox for quiet a while and will drive 40min bypassing others stores because i feel more welcome and free to be me at Paradox while playing games. As far as hearing they discriminate against military i have never seen it once and thats with also being a service member myself. The store respects all walks of life be it the military, the LGBT community, or religious standing, i have had people ask me not to talk politics or certain subjects and i respect that, and i have asked in kind on certain topics and they also obliged it's all about respect for respect and the people in the shop show it. now and again it sometimes happens some have got heated but its talked out and the owners have helped being mediators because they dont want to see anyone angry.
I will continue to come to Paradox for all my gaming and hobby needs as long as i live in this area and will support the store with my time and what hobbie...
