An amazing selection of old and collectible toys, games, action figures, and trading cards from all over! The prices are good, especially if you're looking for collectibles for nostalgia or fun and don't care too much about pristine condition (although they have plenty of things in original boxes and covered in glass cases. There are a lot of things I'd not seen anywhere else (2 star trek board games!). You'll need a few hours to get close to fully exploring the store because it's layers and layers of potential treasures, and things are kept in every nook and cranny. Action figures and toys were spread on every flat surface and bookcases were jammed with games, books, and guides.
The cashier was very friendly and knowledgeable about his stock and could talk about ds games as easily as atari and DVDs. I found a DVD box of space ghost that I was going to buy as a present, the cashier opened it at the register to check that the DVDs were inside and found they were missing. I was disappointed, and had thought that the disks would be held behind the counter as in a few other stores, but the cashier was so sorry and polite (that his stock was gone!) that I couldn't be upset (except at the person that would steal from such a unique store with such friendly people!).
They buy in-box and out-of-box collectibles, but be careful because you might end up leaving with more than you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLots of good stuff here. Good videogame selection, even some Sega Saturn games, which I don't see often. The prices were fair. They had some rare collectable games that were expensive, but that is expected. There are also a ton of non-videogame collectables, but I can't say much about them because it's outside of my interests.
The layout is kind of an issue because the store is really small, so it gets crowded easily, making it difficult to really look through the selection of games, many of which were stacked or on lower shelves near the floor. Granted, I went on a Saturday because my niece was in town for the weekend, so maybe a weekday is better.
Regarding getting yelled at by the owner, which many of these reviews indicate is a normal part of the shopping experience here, we (having already read said reviews) arrived already scared and expecting to feel like Jerry Seinfeld in that episode where he dates the woman with all the vintage toys that she won't let him touch. But we had no problems and thought he was really nice--not sure if it was because we didn't touch anything or if it was because that's not actually a typical occurrence š
Regardless, if you're looking for collectibles, especially toys, this is a store you want...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been wanting to go here for several months. I finally take my kid inside to see what it's all about. Guy behind the counter, not sure if he is the owner or what, was rude to me. I picked something off a shelf a little higher than my head, looked at it, and put it back. Guy says, 'sir, please do not pick up anything from the top shelf.' I apologize and put it back, no issues. He then walked up to me and started moving items around. It was at this point that a couple toys fell over. It was not my doing, and he said, 'see, that's why we don't touch the stuff on the top shelf.' I wanted to tell him that it wasn't until he began rearranging toys that they fell over, not me. But I didn't. A few minutes later, I picked up something from a much lower shelf and again, I put it back. He then said to me, 'I already asked you twice not to touch anything.' I had my kid with me, so I let it go and we just left. I have a ton of stuff at my house that he would have been interested in, but I think I'll just hold on to it instead. He should probably put up 'do not touch' signs if he doesn't want the items touched. Didn't seem like that big of a deal since everything is just piled on the...
