Their fresh produce and fresh butchered meat products are second to none in the area! Prices are also VERY competitive! Be prepared to encounter a lack of English comprehension and the nuisances involved with that. It is annoying for all parties involved but the quality of the food is more than worth the hassle! All the ingredients for your meal are fresh from the store this fine eatery resides in! It is unusual to experience fine dining in a grocery store but treasure can be found anywhere. One simply must look! Definitely some of the best chow on the west coast and it is cheaper than drive through which is almost incomprehensible! If anything will ā€œdriveā€ you to learn Spanish as a second language it will be your tastebuds pleading with your primitive brain to do so you can master ordering food from this place. Si! es tan jodidamente bueno! (Side effects include a loud guttural salute every time someone says ā€œtacosā€, flavor flashbacks, and intense yearning. Come back for more and remember your Google Translate app if symptoms persist)

Our family had enjoyed the food from Carniceria Abastos had a wedding two years ago and we’re so highly impressed, we asked the couple for the name of the caterers to cater a wedding for our family this last weekend. I’d like to give my highest recommendation for Carniceria Abastos catering a large event. The food was absolutely amazing the quantity and quality super impressive. Alex was responsive and timely, in communication. They were very punctual with delivery and set up, all the food was the perfect temperature. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal with all the sides. You will be so happy you chose Carniceria Abastos for your catering needs.

The simplicity of good ingredients in a burrito goes a long way. When you combine that with a salsa bar and some amazing avocado sauce, a review is made. Little market with plenty of fresh goodies like pastries and chicharrones cranking out home style burritos and other Mexican food. You can’t miss with this one.

This is the only real grocery market in Lafayette and we live within walking distance. We first had issues with ordering food to go. We’d call our order in about 30 minutes before they close the kitchen and got told it was too late by an angry man. The second time we called 45 minutes before closing, and were told the same thing, with the same angry tone, by the same angry man, so we decided we’d never eat here. We take our Mexican food cravings to Maria’s. They love taking our order no matter what time we call and their food is great!

We stop here throughout the week for odds and ends when we catch them open. They close before dark I believe around 7:30 or 8pm. We love supporting family owned businesses. We also come from families with Latin decent so we eat a lot of Mexican foods and what better place to shop for Mexican ingredients than a Mexican market?! We had our grandbabies for a wknd and they came with a cough. My husband seen it was still early enough for them to be open and popped in for a few things and cough syrup. No listed prices for the medications on the shelves, but how bad could it be. $30 for cough syrup from Mexico. We decided to take it back although they closed right after leaving so we had it in a bag in the counter for the next chance we caught them open which happened to be today almost 30 days after purchase. When the cashier told my husband no they would not do a refund he asked to speak to the manager. The cashier informed him he was busy so he decided to wait for him. The manager came over with a bad attitude and said they would not accept a return because the medicine was from Mexico (did your grandmother smuggle it across the boarder like a holocaust ring or what is so special about cough syrup from Mexico that makes this non refundable 😳). He also said he wouldn’t return it because it was ALMOST 30 days since we purchased it. Didn’t offer a store credit or anything. Just straight up no it’s from Mexico and it’s almost been 30 days. Is there a 30 day policy or and almost 30 day policy? Maybe post something in Spanish and English and learn some customer service. Worst Mexican market I’ve ever been to. Such a shame they have to be jerks. Lost us as a customer twice! Walmart is 5 minutes away and has better manners!!! That says a lot. Their cough medicine is FDA approved and refundable, but also doesn’t cost $30. I recommend you go to Walmart and stay away from the rude customer service...

I love the store! I ordered a dozen chicken tamales, and picked up today. The owner provided a wonderful hot sauce salsa, and guacamole-thank you! We are now eating them. They are so good.

The staff is so gracious, and one of the ladies brought the homemade tamales out to the truck, because they were very hot, and she wrapped them in a container very nicely!

The mission of this store is service; I was really tempted by the chicken barbecue outside, maybe another time.

Keep up the good work, and I will try to learn some more espanol'! šŸ‘

I can't leave this site before I mention their huge array of mexican cuts of meats. They are beautiful cuts, and the meat counter is huge. ...and the mexican cake is wonderful with strawberries and whipped cream!

Gracias'

Joyce...
