As a regular customer, a formal DG employee, and a resident of this area, I cannot begin to tell you how much I recommend AVOIDING this store. By all standards, both morally and through corporate, it's inconsistent. Carts and trash everywhere in the aisles, management can never seem to speak to you with any form of gratitude or respect, and you'll be lucky if you even see a cashier, be it through waiting twenty minutes in a line or by waiting for them to come back from their break. I went in around 11 today, buying two things. I walked in just in time to see both "cashiers" I assume, walk off into the Narnia that is this store, to do who knows what. Stock shelves? But they spent a bulk of that time talking shit about other people. And then the manager (I assume this too because of descriptions told to me by other disgruntled customers) showed up out of nowhere, only to waltz into the very back corner of the store by the stock room, with no way of gauging who's at the register to tell one of the other two to maybe go do something. But no. I'm sat up by the register for ten minutes, waiting. Someone came up behind me to buy a Monster, and had they shown up I would've let him go first so he can get going. But after five minutes, I watched this dude put his Monster back in a front fridge and walk out. And after another minute of thinking about it, I followed suit and drove ALL THE WAY INTO HIGH SPRINGS just to go to a different location to buy what I needed, because as important as they are, I'm not about to try my luck or my patience with these employees. And don't even get me started on the woman who thinks she's so important she can park her Mustang in any given space close to the door, rather than give that space to the elderly customers who need it. Back when I was working for this company, my store was never this bad, and when Patricia left this store, I knew it was only going to get worse here. So, for the sake of your sanity, do not go here. I wish I could...
Read moreI live near the Ellisville location. There is a kind, hard working soul that works there, Ms. Patricia. She is certain to greet each person with kindness and blessings on the way out. I very seldom take the time for bad reviews, but in this case I find it necessary. I have a one star review because of how this store treats their staff. There is never enough workers in there. There is usually 6 or 7 of us lined up while one cashier serves us. The self check out is usually not working so there goes that option. The store is usually hot and product on carts in the isle because of working the store on a skeleton crew. My most recent visit will certainly be my last. Ms. Patricia was working the register (alone as usual) greeting each person as though they were her only concern, giving her undivided attention. I get up to the register and I'm greeted with warm recognition from knowing my face. There were about 5 or 6 people in line behind me. We exchanged pleasantries and walking out behind me was the young manager ( I know this because I asked her and with a look as though I had 3 eyes she responded yes matter of factly) who didn't acknowledge the stress her staff member was under, didn't look at the patrons standing in line to spend their hard earned money and possibly offer to at least get the line down before walking out. This has happened more than once. This is poor treatment of staff and patrons, poor ownership of WHOEVER owns the franchise. They say if see something say something.....I did..... and now I have said something. Thank you Ms. Patricia for your kindness and your work ethic you get 10 stars in my book. The store got a one because that's the only way I could write this review.
For the life of me I can't see how this store has an...
Read moreLooks like I'm not the only one seeing this same problem, judging by the reviews. I was in there tonight around 6:45pm. Long line, 1 cashier. 2 employees in the personal care section looking confused. Turns out one was the manager. Young female manage, with brown hair. Cashier asked her to join an item that he accidentally rang up 2x for a customer. She told him (the cashier), "If you don't need my keys, I don't want to hear it". Obviously he did! He was also handling what is a half broken self checkout while the other two just stand around. A woman decided to use it anyway because the line was so long (manager could have easily opened another register to help). The woman using self checkout asked the manager is she can get her receipt because the machine didn't print it. Manager, with the same attitude she gave the employee says, "If it didn't print it, there is nothing I can do!". This manager needs to be replaced. Standing around looking at products instead of helping out your employees and customers is not being a manager. Do your job. Once I finally got to the register, I immediately told the cashier that I hope his day gets better. One of this days that manager is going to have employees walk out and she will be left to...
