If you are buying and servicing a Boston Whaler from Marine Max Lake of the Ozarks, I hope you will not be as disappointed as I am. SALES: The model I ordered, a Montauk, wasn't one they sell often, so my salesperson wasn't very knowledgeable. Okay, I understand. When it finally came in, I was out of town. The sales manager/finance guy started to repeatedly hound me to pick it up "so he could make his month". I had my sales person back him off. I was paying cash so this guy insisted on a wire transfer. Cashiers Check from local bank might take an hour. Wire transfer, with all the fraud checks and confirmations, took hours. At settlement, it felt like an old school car-guy grinding. No to this, No to that...etc. Example: Sign this release, since you’re not buying the extended warranty... SERVICE: The boats been fine and I'm satisfied. I haven't needed to interact with Marine Max at all, until I received two recall notices from Boston Whaler. When calling to make the appointment, I made sure to confirm that all the parts required were in stock. I dropped the boat off and came back 3 days later, only to be told that not only they didn't have any of the parts but it would take 3 weeks to get them. I can only think the service and parts people rate their time as much more valuable that mine, since I spent the hours getting the boat there, only to find out that they couldn't take the minutes to confirm they actually had the parts. Boston Whaler prices with Bayliner service. I'm...
Read moreI salute Byron and the whole yard crew at MarineMax Osage Beach, MO. Contrary to our plans we were delayed by our 10,000 lbs boat on trailer load traveling from KS to get to their location by the 4 p.m. Saturday close of the yard works for the start of our week's vacation. But Byron told us to keep on trucking toward him and keep him advised. When we arrived about half an hour after the crew was supposed to be done for the day, they were waiting for us. They immediately hooked onto our trailer and got our Regal Commodore 2760 launched.
Then they came to our rescue again. We had them pencil us onto their schedule to load on Sunday, one of their busiest load out days. We instead showed up on Saturday at opening with a leaking bellows the bilge pump was keeping up with, but which could have sunk our cruiser. As soon as I expressed my concern regarding the leak to Byron he had his crew put our boat on its trailer in no time.
What Byron had quoted me for the launch and recovery was reasonable. The service they rendered was well worth more. I highly recommend MarineMax at Osage Beach on Bagnell Dam Blvd to anyone using Lake of the Ozarks. And they also have some pretty sweet boats for sale, if your old boat has become boring.
Congrats to Byron and all the crew at MarineMax for a...
Read moreMarineMax East was initially great to work with. However, it had turned into a nightmare. The sales rep Ben, after asking 2x for confirmation on boats horsepower, gave me the wrong information by 200HP. It was only discovered because I reached out to 4 Scarab dealers across the country and 1 from Utah got back to me. (I'm in KS) When presenting the salesman with this info, he said "well glad you found that out before the sale or you would have really chewed me out." Fast forward, to the sale cancellation, and when sent an e-document someone from MarineMax said reason for sales cancellation was Buyer Financing!! So they even lied on there to save their own back side. It fell through because I was told a boat had 500hp, and instead I found out 7 days in that it actually had 300hp. Now I'm battling to get my money back even though I never took possession. I'm not saying don't buy from them, I'm simply saying, BUYER BEWARE! Do your own research, and don't believe what they tell you. Ultimately, they're after the sale 1st and foremost. Cory, the finance director, and manager ? Wasn't very apologetic either. I never once was I...
