I bought a sewage grinder pump at this place could not look at it inside the store because they had it chained down and wanted to know if the feet were the same on the one that I had that was a Liberty pump when I got home I took it out of the box measured the feet and it was not the same therefore I knew that it would not fit into the canister. I immediately took it back to harbor freight and put it in the basket did some other shopping while I was in there still having the receipt in my hand one of their associates come up to me and told me that I could not return that if the box had been opened the previous when I checked out earlier that day the checkout guy told me I could bring it back within 90 days. Disassociate that I am now dealing with tells me that I should read the receipt and it says on the receipt that you have to return it to hft returns. I talked to one of the managers and tell her to open it up she opens it up and it still got the sticker over the end cap. She pulls him over there to talk to him. I told the sales rep that I hadn't used in it originally. Apparently he did not believe me. So I tell him again while he is standing there with the manager that I told him that I had not used it. The manager states that this is obvious to see. I mean really who's going to bring a sewage pump back after you've been using it. He says to me, " people tell us all kinds of things in here." I was glad to have gotten my money back is this manager made a swift refund with me and I appreciate her doing so but in the future I will be cautious of buying things of such value from them. The pump was over $300 and some dollars almost four. Not a very courteous transaction with them and to tell me straight up if they would have told me in the very beginning that I could not return it I would not have taken it home but I also could not take the one inside the store and look at the legs on it and measure it because it was chained down. Poor service at the Lakewood Washington store glad I got...
Read moreFirst off I understand that harbor freight is a discount tool company and the tools they sell are not always going to be the best quality. I bought a belt sander a little over a year ago and it died in the middle of a job. Knowing nothing about belt sanders I figured it was maybe a fuse so I asked someone there. He very rudely told me they don't offer parts for their tools and I could either call the company to get a new fuse or just buy a new one. So no fix and I left feeling a little less than great. Today returned again and was looking for a replacement charger for one of their older models. The First Lady I dealt with walked me over to the 12v charger(mine is 18v and I told her that) and she said this is what I got if it should work fine. Again 12 volt and different shape I even had it with me. So I walked around and ran into the same guy. He was a little more helpful but again could met my needs so he instantly tried to sell me a new tool( I was looking for a saw and he tried to sell ne a drill). So care for customers was lacking. I went to look at sanders still I need of a new one. Clearance on a new on almost half off great deal. I go up to check out and the price is wrong. So we go look the lady so helpful tried to take care of me. So she calls a manger and her comes Mr upsale. So we explain and he says the codes are different and the one I was looking for was 34.99 not 49.99 original price. Not true both models look identical and yes codes are wrong but price is an exact match expect the discount price. Low and behold the have sold out of the clearance price but they haven't updated their display. He did offer me 20 percent off which was nice but no where close to the clearance price. It got a little heated and I left before one of us said something our Mama would not have been proud of. If you have an item that is sold out take down the display don't make excuses and take care of...
Read moreHarbor Freight tools is awesome. It's Dad's toy store. I can't go in there without finding something I need. Their prices are insanely low and the stuff is good. On the rare occasion that the product isn't OK they don't hassle you about bringing it back. I'm a hobbyist/homeowner so I'm mostly interested in their economy product lines.
They're expanding focus now from the least cost casual grade tools to more industrial and professional grade brands. If you're a serious Workman you will find stuff to use on the job at fair rates.
The best deals are in their flyers and ads. If you are building your dad tools collection the winning strategy is to join their club and hit the sales when your list items are deeply discounted from the regular low price. You can get serious tools for less than the price per pound of fresh produce. I'm not a fan of loyalty cards but this one is the real deal.
Have a look around when you go in the store. I always find a few little things that are almost free, and stuff I wouldn't think to look for there. Today I bought a blood pressure monitor, which I needed but would never ever think to look for in a tool store. It was about $12.
Now if I could just get my son in law to go to Harbor Freight instead of...
